To enable the capture of brilliant images of coral, pygmy seahorses, and other sea life at depths as great as 200', Ikelite offers this dedicated Underwater Housing for your Canon EOS 6D DSLR Camera. An Ikelite bulkhead sync connector and built-in TTL circuitry allow for the attachment of optional, external strobes. Ikelite DS flash units can be used in TTL or manual exposure mode, while third-party strobes will work in manual mode.

Mechanical controls on the housing provide access to all camera functions except for the multi-function lock switch, depth-of-field preview button, and dioptric adjustment knob. As an alternative to the camera's LCD, you can use the housing's built-in, glass optical viewfinder for shot composition. It ships without a required lens port, and accepts interchangeable ports to accommodate a wide range of Canon EF prime and zoom lenses, including fisheye, wide-angle, telephoto, and macro lenses. The ports can be removed and replaced quickly with a simple locking system. For full compatibility details, see the Port Finder and Chartscasxzwvu.

The durable enclosure is made in the USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate, which is clear to enable you to monitor the camera and O-ring seal with ease.

Construction Details
  • Depth Rating: 200'
  • Made by hand in the USA from corrosion-resistant polycarbonate
  • Clear to enable you to monitor the camera and O-ring seal with ease
  • Spring-loaded latches on lid ensure secure closure
Strobe Connection and Operation
  • Use of an optional, external strobe will be extremely helpful once you descend further than 15-20' underwater, except when shooting with color filters on very clear days with bright sunlight
  • Strobe restores hues that get absorbed by water, so your images are vibrant, accurate, and natural-looking
  • Try to stay no more than 3-4' away from subject to preserve natural colors in images
  • Ikelite bulkhead with TTL circuitry enables reliable electrical triggering of external strobes via sync cords
  • Ikelite DS strobes are operable in TTL or manual exposure mode
  • Compatible with the following Ikelite DS strobes: DS50 (above serial number 70000), DS51, DS125 (above serial number 5000), DS160, DS161, and DS200
  • Third-party strobes, such as those from Nikonos, Sea & Sea, and Inon, can be connected via other sync cords and operated in manual exposure mode only
  • Exposure settings of a DS Substrobe can be viewed and adjusted quickly via 2 simple push-buttons on the rear of the housing
  • Tweak your TTL exposure or take full manual control without taking your hand off the housing
  • In TTL mode, 4 exposure compensation settings are available in half-stop increments ranging from +2 to -2
  • Strobe output can also be controlled in manual mode through the back of the housing, via 7 compensation settings covering 3.5 stops in half-stop increments
  • TTL circuitry transmits direct electrical impulses from your camera to your strobes, precisely adjusting flash output and eliminating signal interference, inconsistent exposures, and false triggering
Controls and Handling
  • Mechanical push-buttons, knurled knobs/dials, and levers afford access to all important camera functions
  • Shutter, video recording start/stop, and a large zoom control knob can all be comfortably reached without removing your hands from the comfortable, rubberized grips
  • Over-sized knob smoothly engages Ikelite's universal zoom gear system
  • Included aluminum tray and grips improve balance and handling, while providing quick-release attachment points for optional strobe and video lighting arms
  • Tray and handles may be removed from the housing for convenience while traveling
  • Additional lighting arm or other lightweight accessory can be connected to the housing's aluminum 1/4"-20 top mount
  • Housing body alone has slightly negative buoyancy in freshwater; the overall buoyancy of the system varies depending on your choice of lens and port
Lens Port System
  • Ships without a required lens port
  • Accepts various interchangeable dome and flat ports with 4 locking latches for an array of different zoom, macro, and wide-angle lenses
  • For full compatibility details, see the Port Chart linked above
  • Two sets of zoom gears are provided: one for the majority of popular zoom lenses with large diameters of 2.8-3.0", and another for lenses with smaller diameters of 2.8" or less
  • Both sets of gears are easy to install and require no modification to the lens
