Polaroid PLWPCG12 overview

  • 1Description

Capture the beauty and variety of sea life at depths up to 130' with your Canon PowerShot G11 or G12 Digital Camera, thanks to this compact Polaroid Underwater Housing. The housing provides access to all camera functions via mechanical controls, including push-buttons and knobs. It is constructed from durable polycarbonate, which is clear to enable you to monitor the O-ring seal. The enclosure also has a built-in, flat glass lens port. Additionally, it is configured with a 1/4"-20 tripod mount and a hole for attaching the included hand or neck strap. As the housing does not permit the camera's built-in flash to fire and has no strobe connector, an optional constant light is recommended in order to ensure sufficient illumination for clear photo and video capture.

    Polaroid PLWPCG12 reviews

Underwater Housing for Canon PowerShot G11 or G12 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's is the real deal I have a G11 and it fits perfectly. Shots taken underwater are far better - eons better - not even comparable to what you would get with a point and shoot underwater camera that requires no aftermarket housing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Housing for the Price I can't quite give this housing 5 stars yet, as I have only tested it out in the sink at home so far... I'll be able to get a full review in a few weeks! Since I am new to underwater photograpy, I have no basis for comparision to other, probably more expensive housings, but this Polaroid so far seems like a great deal. I tested it twice in the sink and found no evidence of any leaks. Small bubbles did form on the outside of the glass, in front of the camera lens, but I purchased some anti-fog liquid for snorkeling masks and the like, so that will probably do the trick. This is currently sold out at many retailers, which is why I chose BH... but that's not a problem since, in my experience, they ship quickly and have very competitive prices.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaked in 3 places I do not recommend this housing. It leaked from three different places on first use (focus wheel, and two buttons) and there was a terrible rough spot in the o-ring grove by the hinge that had me very concerned. It obviously is not well pressure-tested before going out to consumers. I had high hopes for this housing but after my experience with it, I strongly urge folks to look elsewhere.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good service The service was excellent, I received my product quickly, and B&H provided it at a cost far below competitors. I had to give my experience only 3 stars because there was a minor assembly error on my equipment which made it unusable, however, I have been able to return the item for a refund and have no hesitation to come back to B&H for future purchases.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Price for a good quality product! I have taken it below 8 feet in the pool a couple of times since I got it and so far it has kept my G12 dry. I would have rated the product 5 stars if it had a button to control the aperture setting. I haven't taken enough pictures underwater to be able to tell if I can get real sharp photos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value A simple and affordable way to take the G11/G12 underwater. I use it with an external strobe. It works great when I don't want to take my much larger pro rig on the boat. If no external strobe, you will need the optional weight kit from Canon for salt water dives.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great Works great, brought it scuba diving a few times and all was good. Only issue I ran across is that is fogs up really quick and it is pretty large and cumbersome, but it does the job.
