    Stedi-Stock 1221 Reviews

Stedi-Stock II with Quick Release (Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Camera shake eliminated ! The Stedi-Stock II has resolved my main photographic issue with long lenses: camera shake at slow shutter speeds. My Canon 7D body and FE 300mm IS USM lens with Canon EF 1.4X Extender easily mounts on this adjustable, lightweight but sturdy rifle stock. Viewing and shooting is simple. Images have improved greatly using the Stedi-Stock II. An added feature is the quick release that mounts on my monopod or tripod, thus giving the quick option for pod mounted or hand held photography. My Stedi-Stock has also added the option for my spotting scope, not having to set up a tripod to quickly observe distant wildlife while viewing from a vehicle. A good, versatile lightweight mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awsome stablizer for hand held shots I use the Stedi-Stock II for nature (mostly bird)pictures. It gives a great increase for hand held photography of any type. The camera position can be adjusted over a 6 range, allowing comfortable use of a view finder or hood loop. It is rugged (used mine a LOT for over a year-still looks like new. It allows me to follow birds coming in an d to follow them over head and as far as my balance allows. The only problems that I had is that the zoom rings on my lenses dragged on the mount (I use a rubber band under the front of the camera to raise it a hair. The camera tended to turn on the mount, although the rubber band added traction, I keep 6 channel locks in my bag. I hope to add a quick release plate that will match my tripods. The quick release 'cone' works well, with a tripod, but if I shoot up or down (as Eagle in tree), even my heavy video tripod will drift after locking it down making it hard to get it positioned. Not a fault of the Stedi-Stock II, just physics. I feel that this is the best value over any of my photo purchases, I recommend it for anyone even small point and shoots. It also comes in camouflage which may be better for wildlife.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Handy Indeed for Macrophotography My use of the Stedi-stock is mainly to support camera, lens, and two flashes on adjustable arms (both attached to the Stedi-stock body by a Novoflex clamp) for close-up and macro shots. It offers considerable additional stability vs. hand-holding, is easy to carry and use, and is about the simplest, lightest-weight solution to holding the whole rig. I have been able to take in-focus, non-shaky pictures of active butterflies and dragonflies that were not possible before. For what it does, its price is the macro photographer's bargain of all bargains. Works well for steadying shots of birds made with my 300mm lens, too. Its only drawback (and the sole reason for 4 stars rather than 5) is that the camera/lens can rotate a bit too easily with respect to the axis of the Stedi-stock. This minor annoyance can be beaten by using a little patch of the same material used to prevent throw rugs from sliding across floors (e.g. Kittrich Corp.'s Rug Grip) between the camera and the Stedi-stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy, except for Happy with steady stock. But it could be improved by roughing up the butt end. Tends to slide on your clothing. I used a strip of velco, works pretty good. I would recommend this product

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Useful, well made First I find the Stedi-Stock to be very useful and an important substitute when I can't use a tripod. ?I would have given it a five star rating except for two items. ?One and the most important is that I could not mount my camera in the most comfortable viewing ?position without a modification. My tele lens has a relatively large diameter front lens shade (it is a Panasonic 100-400mm Leica DG) which rubbed on the stock. ?I solved this problem by gluing a thick strip of velcro in the area were I wanted to mount my camera. ?The second item was that I didn't think the cast in loops for the carrying strap were strong enough. ?Now I use a larger strap though the opening in the but of the stock. All in all I am now very happy with the stock.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It works... There are not many choices out there for a gunstock type of shoulder brace. If you are a mobile photographer and like to walk while carrying a longer lens mounted and be ready for birds, or any animal that pops-up, this is a decent choice. Not much to it (it's light) and has zero frills, but it steadies my long lens just fine. You could make your own if you're handy, but I guarantee it would not be as light as this is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stedi Srock II I have been after an item like this for some time, as I shoot a lot of wildlife photography. The Stedi Stock ii enables me to put a long lens on and have a lot more stability. The quick release also allows the use of a tripod or monopod. This enables you the ease of removing it quickly and to continue shooting. It is great for us in vehicles and you can have on the seat next to you. My one suggestion is to attach a telephoto lens via the coupling ring to the Stedi-Stock and not the camera base. Stedi-Stock ii accommodates all size lenses. It is light weight and easy to stow in your onboard baggage. I don't advice taking it through security in you carry-on. A lot of unnecessary questions could be asked. A handy product for the wildlife or sporting photographer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As soon as I fix it, it will be perfect Since I got my scope I've been meaning to build one of these, but this one isn't too expensive, and a lot easier than building my own. It's good, but it would be a lot better if it had a flange on top of the butt to rest on top of your shoulder; then you wouldn't have to pull back so hard on the handle to keep the butt of the stock from sliding down. But until Stedi-Stock start making them that way, just go ahead and buy this one and screw a piece of aluminum stock on it to rest on your shoulder. Then it'll be perfect.
