Nikon 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 overview

  • 1Description

The silver 1 NIKKOR 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 VR Lens from Nikon is a compact wide-angle zoom lens compatible with all Nikon 1 cameras equipped with the Nikon 1 mount. Its 6.7-13mm focal length is equivalent to 18-35mm in 35mm format, covering a range from a super-wide angle for landscapes and close group shots to an angle close to what you see with your eyes. This wide lens provides a 100° angle of view to bring more into the frame, as well as foreground-subject emphasis.

Built-in Vibration Reduction keeps your images free of blur, even if your hands are unsteady, by compensating for camera shake. The lens contains aspherical elements to eliminate coma, and ED glass to enhance sharpness and color correction by minimizing chromatic aberration. It has an Internal Focusing system that lets you focus without altering the size of the lens, enabling a closer focusing distance. The 1 NIKKOR 6.7-13mm has autofocus.

Vibration Reduction
The VR system reduces image blur caused by camera shake, and offers the equivalent of shooting at a shutter speed 3 stops--or 8 times--faster. This enables handheld shooting at dusk, at night, and in poorly-lit interiors. VR also automatically detects when you pan during a shot
Aspherical Lens Elements
The 3 aspherical (AS) elements virtually eliminate the problem of coma and other types of lens aberration, even when used at the widest aperture. They are especially helpful in correcting the distortion at wide-angle focal lengths, and also contribute to a lighter and smaller lens design
Extra-low Dispersion Glass
3 ED glass elements improve sharpness and color correction by reducing chromatic aberration. ED glass offers all the benefits with none of the drawbacks of calcium fluorite-based glass. Capture sharp, high-contrast images even at the lens' largest aperture of f/3.5
Internal Focusing
The IF system allows you to focus the lens without changing its size. All internal optical movement is limited to the interior of the non-extending lens barrel. This enables a more compact, lightweight construction, in addition to a closer focusing distance of 0.82' (0.25 m) throughout the zoom range. A smaller, lighter focusing lens group is utilized to ensure faster focusing
Rounded Diaphragm
The lens' 7 rounded diaphragm blades allow for attractive bokeh in the out-of-focus regions of the image
Additional Features
Accepts optional screw-on filters with 52mm diameters. Lens barrel retracts via rotation of zoom ring

Nikon 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 reviews

1 NIKKOR 6.7-13mm f/3.5-5.6 VR Lens (Silver) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Small, Light, Sharp, Useful & Expensive I've used the lense for my interior photo shoot of flats and landscapes and I have to say I am so impressed with its wide angle performance, auto focus is great even in low-light! I am happy with its sharp results specially if you partner the shot by a speedlight (SB-N5 or SB-N7) This is one of the major factor that photographers are looking from a camera in general categories. The only thing I didn't like about it is the price! Common Nikon, I used to know you guys are reasonable in prices but this time I have to say ouch, this applies to most accessories relevant to the Nikon 1 Class. But the rest are ok.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unexpectedly sharp even at extremes This is one of the sharpest ultra wide angles I've used. I'm not a pixel peeper but from a practical photography perspective this lens is right up there with the 16-35 f4 on my D800. Build quality is excellent. The VR allows ridiculous hand held shots (1/4 second is easy). This lens plus the 18.5, 32, and 30-110 are really all you need for a complete Nikon 1 package. Of course an FT1 is also very useful sometimes to get those crazy long shots.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Companion to 10-100mmf/4.0-f/5.6 This lens is equivalent to an 18-35mm zoom in a 35mm system. This is a perfect range for narrow city streets or tight canyons and mountain vistas. The lens has the solid feel and weight of a quality product. It would be nice if it was a stop faster, but then it would be much larger, heavier, and costlier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent WA for Great Nikon 1 system Four stars only because I'm having trouble with the lens shade and cap. The shade does not go back on easily either in the sade position or the reserve position. In fact, one time it went completely over the attachment threads onto the lens itself. That said, the lens is great. Haven't tried it inside in a well lit situation, but outside it delivers excellent quality images like all the other Nikon 1 lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addendum review For those on the fence, consider that this optical design does not require the more complex retrofocus optics that DSLRs demand, yet this lens is a goodie bag of ed and aspherical elements...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice! It lives up to all the hype!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid build nice wide option Recent purchase so I have limited use but the output is sharp, the autofocus is fast and accurate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultrawide with VR Delivers Perhaps the newest and most refined (6 exotic elements) of Nikon 's WA's, mine delivers pro results across it's range. Add VR and a light, compact form factor and I've got the buy of the year...
