Nikon A211 overview

  • 1Description

Nikon's black 10x42 Aculon A211 Binoculars are an ideal device for hunters, birders, and outdoor enthusiasts who require an optic that delivers high magnification for detailed observations of distant subjects while retaining the ability to observe quickly on the go, without the bulk and weight of larger models.

The enhanced light-gathering ability offered by the 42mm objectives helps to ensure bright and clear views, even in challenging situations like at dawn or dusk, or when peering into dense underbrush. Anti-reflection multi-coated aspherical lenses, made with environmentally friendly Eco-Glass elements, complement the BAK4 Porro prism light path to deliver high-contrast images with enhanced depth of field without edge distortion, as well as accurate color fidelity. Despite its 10x magnification, this version of the A211 has a wide field of view that helps to offset the appearance of visible hand shake that is common with high-power optics such as this, while presenting the user with spacious views.

The Aculon's sculpted rubber-armored housing is designed to fit naturally into the observer's hand and provide secure non-slip handling. It is offered here in a subdued black color. Twist-up rubber eyecups and a comfortable eye relief enable easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions. The combination of image quality and user-friendly design make the 10x42 Aculon A211 a natural option for long-range glassing.

Optical Performance
  • Powerful 10x magnification allows for detailed observations of distant subjects
  • 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability, even in challenging conditions such as at dawn and dusk, without the bulk or weight of larger objectives
  • Traditional Porro prism light path produces a rich depth of field, allowing the user to discern the relative distances between objects being viewed
  • High refractive index BAK4 prisms deliver a round exit pupil, and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Aspherical eyepiece lenses correct spherical aberration to produce clear and crisp images, with reduced edge distortion and astigmatism
  • Anti-reflection multi-coated optics produce neutral and accurate color fidelity, and improve contrast and image brightness
  • Wide apparent angle of view reduces the appearance of visible hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics such as this
  • 314-foot field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Large slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate, even while wearing gloves
  • Right-eye dioptric correction compensates for individual user's optical prescription for clearer and sharper views
  • 56-72mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Twist-up click-stop rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use with reduced vibration and arm fatigue
  • 11.6mm eye relief allows easy viewing without eye fatigue, especially during long observation sessions
  • 4.2mm exit pupil will completely cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light for a full and complete view without vignetting

    Nikon A211 reviews

    10x42 Aculon A211 Binoculars is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crisp & Clear Bought these for an alaskan cruise. Worked great! Good magnification, nice field of view, solid feel and reasonable weight. Rubber coating makes for firm, easy grip. Easy adjusting and focusing. Work great with and without eyeglasses. Optics are beautiful! Eyepiece cover attaches to strap, but snap-in element covers are easy to lose. Strap is substantial, adding to comfort, but also makes it bulky. Strap is a pain to attach. Overall I love these! Nice product, great choice for my purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I was, frankly, amazed. I should preface this review by pointing out that I am not an optics expert, just a normal guy who needed a decent set of binoculars. But I am a professional photographer and the concept of quality glass is not lost on me. Nor are the benefits of investing in it.Briefly, if you're someone who is used to $15 Chinese binoculars, prepare to have your mind blown. The brightness, sharpness and clarity are in a different world. Beyond that, I don't really know what to say about the optics, other than the fact that I can't even conceive of something much better than this. The color and clarity are incredibly bright and the level of detail you see is jaw dropping. The rubberized coating is perfect. Sort of sticky to the touch and very expensive feeling. All the adjustments are smooth and silky and everything feels tough, like it will last for years and years of consistent use.Nits to pick? The case is kind of stupid, with no carrying strap, and although the protective covers for the lenses are great, the ones for the eye cups don't really fit on very securely. And I suppose in a perfect world I wish the Aculon models were weatherproof. But when I am using these binoculars as binoculars, and doing the things with them that I expected to do with them, the optical performance is so much better than I hoped I just forget all about carrying cases and stuff like that.If you're an expert on binoculars, maybe you will find other things to want here, but if you're just an enthusiast looking for a good set that won't break the bank, buy these with complete confidence and never look back. They'll blow you away.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good value As a backyard birdwatcher I wanted better magnification than offered by my Nikon 7x50 pair (and so I could have one pair upstairs and one downstairs). The 10x magnification makes a significant difference. I was treated to the dramatic colorful finery of a male merganser just yesterday from hundreds of feet away between dives underwater. The Aculon offers a very sharp image with very good color rendering though it would be nice if the image were a little brighter. Not a serious issue. The focus is very precise and can be used for observing objects much closer than my old pair. My one serious reservation is that the eyepiece lenses have to be adjusted very carefully widthwise to get a full field of view and to avoid blackouts. That may be because my eyes are relatively close together and not well-suited to binoculars in general. Even when properly adjusted, not all the view is stereoscopic. I also use the adjustable eyecup in the close mode meant for eyeglasses. The protective lens caps need to be secured to the strap per instructions since they fall off easily. Also, the diopter adjustment ring is a little awkward to use but doable. The Aculon is lightweight and has a comfortable hand feel with its protective rubber coating which, so far, has not been put to any tests luckily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10x42 a211 nikon Held several binoculars today and some $300 priced ones and these Nikon 10x42 was easier to hold and clearer than any I looked through, would rather have them than ones I got last year(leupold) 10X50 at over $$and the are $$,not waterproof but I wouldn't be using them in Rain anyway.
