Bushnell 137570 overview

  • 1Description

The 7x50 Marine Binocular with Digital Compass from Bushnell combines fully multicoated glass elements with a digital compass and tilt sensor to create a well-equipped tool for marine navigation and observation. To prepare the Marine Binocular for use on the water or in the rain, its housing is nitrogen-filled for fogproof performance and is also buoyant in case these glasses go for an unexpected swim. The ranging reticle has an inverted-T crosshair with mil hash marks along both the azimuth and elevation axes. This measurement tool assists the observer in determining the estimated distance to, or size of, an object within the visual scene.

A built-in digital compass enables this configuration of the Marine binocular to measure the direction of the observer's field of view; readings are displayed in degrees and cardinal directions below the ranging reticle. The integrated tilt-sensing inclinometer determines the binocular's pitch relative to level ground and also helps ensure the accuracy of compass measurement. This 3-axis digital navigation device will automatically turn off after 60 seconds of inactivity. Non-slip rubber armor, long eye relief, and a threaded tripod socket help equip the 7x50 Marine binocular for a wide range of outdoor activities.

Bushnell 137570 reviews

7x50 Marine Binocular with Digital Compass is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost 5 stars I picked this up under the assumption since the model under it, had an illuminated Compass, this stating it had a LCD Illuminated Overlay, that it would be visible in low light, or dark conditions. Talked with Bushnell reps, to find out, it solely relies on the optics to provide the heading, so IOW if its getting dark, and the optics cannot provide enough light that feature is no longer productive. I will hold on to them since the compass feature is alot nicer being it also has the tilt degree read out, knowing I cannot use this function at night. The Bushnell's still have a solid build, still floats without the strap and still is an overall solid pick for a water activities.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Totally Reassured @ Sea The Bushnell marine Binos with digital compass are excellent, although a bit heavy for long use in a small boat. I like the fact that the digital compass at the press of a button gives you accurate co-ordinates at the bottom of your screen. All in all great value for money and crystal clear optics. Ours were bought for looking for missing divers in the water should the need ever arise. Hopefully that day will never come. I live by the Sea and find them extremely useful to spot the hive of boating/shipping activity in the channel. Good Value for money from a great company. I felt extra secure in my purchase with the knowledge and excellent Customer Service from B&H as I upgraded my order to these from a cheaper pair and they did it for me quickly and efficiently. I am very impressed with their service and have told all my friends in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and China. I am sure they will buy from you guys as well. Thanks once again. Peter Hong Kong.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth the money! Our Company bought these to use when building a new communications tower. The digital compass helped eliminate have to shoot azimuths with a regular compass for the antennas. It made our project so much easier. Held up nicely in frigid conditions, having to use these in the cold of winter. Bushnell made these right!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poorly build battery chamber, LCD display and flawed FOV No doubt this is one of the good marine binocular out there. I did really want to get this bin, but not until I received it. The appealing factors were the LCD displaying not just compass mil but also directional letter. The bin felt heavy enough with good solid body build. However, the excitement stopped there. The rubber armour was so "finger print lover". The moment I held it, the compass just sucked all of my fingerprints and it was pretty difficult to make it clean. The biggest flaw was the battery chamber. It is no way waterproof. There was no O-ring. The chamber was closed by a flimsy plastic screw on cap, which was extremely hard to take off and put back in. Underneath the cap were 2 little screws holding the battery negative plate. I found these screws were so loose that one just decided to drop off the moment I tried to put the cap back in. Returning the bin back to B&H was pleasant. Yet, the second bin came out with the same flimsy battery chamber cap which I found it was even more loose than the first one (so how on earth this bin is water proof? What if the water get into the chamber?). The saddest thing for this second bin was that the LCD display is flawed. It looks like either the battery is near dead or there was issue with LCD display itself. The digits were not clear, and appear in different shades of black, no matter how you tried to adjust the focus or play with the bin. One last thing that I did not enjoy when comparing this to other bins including Celestron and Steiner. The optical performance is on par but the FOV is really limited. At first I didn't care much about FOV but when you directly compared them, you will see how much more you can see with a bigger FOV bin (same config). This bin actually has the smallest FOV and it is not enjoying experience at all to look at. Besides, the LCD occupied nearly 1/3 of the view with a massive black bar going across the view, making the whole matter worse. So although this bin was promised so much by Bushnell, it failed to deliver. I could not enjoy it. I found unsecure with the battery chamber which the cap could drop off and it is not water seal whatsoever. I have not tested this bin in Australia so I can't comment on whether it can be used worldwide but from what I experienced, Bushnell really disappointed me. The bin is actually more expensive than Celestron but the build quality is way worse than cheaper brand.
