question

What is the ocular lens cac size?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm guessing you meant cap size? The cover cap that came with the scope is about 46mm. And the lens is 45mm. It's the type caps that have a rubber strap to connect them to each other. I would use the 45mm if you are looking at flip up caps.

question

Hi, I have a question about the elevation adjustment. It just say 25 MOA, is that 25 from center in both directions? My question stems from the fact that I have a Nikon 1-piece mount that has 20 MOA of elevation built into it and I am wondering if this scope(4.5-18x version) has the adjustable range to dial that out to zero this scope at 100 yards. I notice that the 3-12x and 3-9x versions don't list their elevation in MOA but rather inches @ 100 yards; 50 and 55 respectively which is effectively double what the 4.5-18x version is and enough to adjust out the 20 MOA rail at 100 yards. Not sure why they change the way the list it (MOA vs. inches) between the different scope. Does the 4.5-18x have enough adjustment for my mount? Thanks

MOA or minute of angle is pretty close to 1 inch at 100 yards. 25 moa would be the total range of adjustment I would assume, so it should work. I think the problem is that you will be maxed out with the adjustment so it won't work at less than 100 yards. The reason they make adjusted moa mounts is so that at long distances (500 to 1000 yds.) you are not maxed out on adjustment. I'm not an expert but I think the closer to the middle of the adjustment range the better. I would save the 20 moa mount for a long range rifle or sell it on armslist and get a regular mount. My favorite is the Leupold mark2. I use this scope on my AR at 100 yards and its awesome. I went with 18x because I can see the bullet holes at 200 yds. without having to walk down range and back to examine the target. The drop zone is useless though as the dots are so big they cover up the bull. I just know my settings for different distance and adjust accordingly. I just bought a second setup for my sister's AR from B&H for 1/2 what I paid at Cabela's for mine.
