    Sony VCT-VPR1 Reviews

Compact Remote Control Tripod is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 47.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Remote but too light The remote works great, and despite other reviews, if you don't have a compatible (Sony) camera you just have to buy another adapter cable or 2. The head works well. My issue with it is that it is so light that panning requires two hands. One to pan the camera and the other to keep the tripod from tipping. Fortunately the remote pan arm can be removed and installed into a Magnus VPH-20. I still had my old heavy weight tripod, so I ordered a new head for it and now I have the best of both world. And get to have a light weight tripod for the DSLR, win win. None of the controls on the camera are in convenient spots for tripod use, so this saves the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great tripod - works as advertised Don't blame the tripod because you didn't do your homework or know how to use it. If your camera has a multi connector, it will work with it - I use it with my RX10, HX300 and my 2006 HDR-SR1 camcorder. Yes, it's lightweight, and yes you have to be mindful of how to use it, but I can carry it for hours unlike my heavy-duty tripod. Two hands needed for panning? I don't think so - try loosening the pan knob. It does exactly what a lightweight tripod should do, and the remote is awesome. And if it's just too petite for you, you can still use the remote with a bigger tripod.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better zoom control than I expected This is a basic tripod. It's sturdy enough for a little camera. I put my Sony a6300 on it. But what I really wanted it for was the zoom controller. I actually removed it and put it on a better tripod for my Sony a7s II. The zoom controller adds a variable zoom which works well on my Sony FE PZ 28-135mm lens. I first tried the other, little remote from Sony. But that one I returned when I realized it didn't offer a variable rocker. This zoom controller does. So now I get professionally looking zooms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product, fantastic service. We are based in London England; I mention this now because nobody in Europe had any stock of this item, and my experience in the past has been that B&H usually have what we need, sell at a fair price, and deliver fast. We know this product well, as we have another that we use often; if you have a Sony with a 'multi' connector this is a super quality tripod for a modest price. Note if your camera has an old style 10-pin LANC socket you can still use it by adding a converter cable Sony pn VMC-AVM1.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from For lightweight jobs I recently needed to shoot natural history on the seashore, walking long distances over sand and climbing over rocks. I needed gear that was lightweight and not a financial tragedy if it got broken or killed with salt water. I used this tripod with an AX53. Heavy pro gear makes better pictures, but try carrying 15 kilos over jagged limestone boulders. Of course this lightweight combo was a trade off, but it meant the difference between getting shots or not. It's a bit shaky at the long end of the lens, so hands off when doing tele shots, but it does remarkably well for the rest of it. It's the best tool I've found for this job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Handycam Tripod It is perfect fit for FDR-AX100 and does not take much space in my luggage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sony remote controller I bought this for the remote control not the tripod. As you would expect the tripod isn't very impressive at this price. It us usable for stills but not adequate for video with pan and tilt. The remote control is much more useful and allows you to select fast or slow zoom speed. The slow speed is pretty slow but allows a uniform speed when panning and tilting. The other remotes I've tried are supposedly variable speed but are very difficult to get a smooth zoom rate. Using with a7r3 and a6500 both 18-105 and 28-135 Sony power zooms.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FANTASTIC PRODUCT JOHNAVATAR.com This is a fantastic product, though the tripod itself is a bit lightweight. I bought this to use with my Sony AX100 4K/UHD camcorder, which I also bought from B&H, which, BTW... B&H is fantastic themselves! LOVE B& H!:). YOU DON'T NEED A MULTI ADAPTER to use the remote that comes with this tripod, to use with the Sony AX100. I though you did from reviews on the internet I saw and ordered the dapper, but I didn't need it. The cable that comes with the remote connects right into the MULTI connector on the Sony AX100. This tripod and hand grip remote turns my Sony AX100 into a studio camera! I would rather have a much heavier tripod because this one is a bit thin and leightweight, but it still does work great! Any questions just ask me! JOHNAVATAR.com

    question

Can the quick release plate be used or adapted to a ARCA plate? If so, what are the part/model numbers that are carried by BH Photo?
    Asked by: James F.
You could attach this Kirk QRC-2.5 plate to the tripod quick release to gain Arca Swiss compatibility.

    question

Will this tripod work with an HDR CX440 camocrder?
    Asked by: BRAD T.
While the tripod part is a good match with the HDR CX440, unfortunately the camcorder has no input for any remote including the one with this tripod. A tripod that makes up in over all sturdiness for what it lacks in remote capabilities is the Magnus VT-350 Video Tripod with Fluid Head B&H # MAVT350. It is a possible substitute.

    question

Is the remote compatible with PXW-X70?
    Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it is. This Compact Remote Control Tripod has a Multi-Terminal cable, which is the kind of port the PXW-X70 has for a remote controller. With a load capacity of 6.6 pounds you can both mount and operate B&H #SOPXWX70 with this product.

    question

The head and remote work really nice, but the tripod is a little weak. Has anyone successfully removed the head on this tripod and mounted on a tripod?
    Asked by: Manuel D.
The consensus is since the head is glued on, it is not practical to remove it. The control is removable. Some purchase this just for the remote and trash or give away the tripod.

    question

Is this tripod compatible with the Sony HDR-CX150 video camera?
    Asked by: Anonymous
While you would be able to mount the CX150 on this tripod, it will not be compatible with the remote control. The remote is for newer cameras with Sony's Multi-Terminal Interface. The CX150 has an A/V R connection. We do have a Magnus VC-20 remote in a kit with a A/V R Adapter that you can use with your camera. From there you could put it on a tripod like the Magnus VT-300.

    question

Is this compatible with Sony HDR-CX 560?
    Asked by: Dee L.
This tripod has a Multi Terminal Cable for the controller while the CX560 has an A/V R connection, so they are not compatible. My suggestion would be to get a separate controller with an A/V R connection, such as the Revo VRS-AVR Remote. You can then clamp the controller on to the Magnus VT-350 and the setup would work very well for you.

    question

Does the remote support **smooth variable zoom** with the Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 OSS lens on an A7sii?Thanks in advance!
    Asked by: Justin T.
Yes, this economy tripod comes with a not-available-separately-Sony zoom control that can be used with Sony a7 camera's using a Sony FE PZ 28-135mm f/4 G OSS Lens. Just plug the remote cable into the Multi-Terminal (a mini USB connection) and zooming you will go. You can remove the remote and use with a more substantial tripod.
