Moshi Cardette 3 reviews

Cardette 3 USB 3.0 Memory Card Reader is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from On My 2nd One and Throwing Out One star for a good looking product. A 3.0 card reader with a nice design and hidden wire at $50 would seem to be a very nice card reader. WRONG! My first one had issues disconnecting every few minutes so i sent the manufacture a nice email. No response so i told BH who replaced it. Two weeks after I got the replacement I have the same issues. Sudden disconnect and reconnect. I would think its the position of the wire or possibly bending to hide it too many times so I made sure to never touch the darn thing when I got a replacement. I never folded wire and play with it and it still happened. Tossing it in the trash for a Lexar one. Waste of $bucks. BH should discontinue this thing. Should have listened to other reviews.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks are useless unless the item works Like every item I buy, I read reviews and the price tag is the last thing I look at. In this case the looks, specs and reviews were all good so I spent $ on the card reader. After 2 months the item broke. i plug it into both a mac or pc and it recognizes it and after 10 seconds a message shows up that I unplugged it. Not cool bro. I paid good money for this and took good care of it. This should not happen. I sent the manufacture a letter and email and never heard back. I told them If I didn't hear back I'd write this review. There are cheaper options that work better. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy I wanted to get a card reader, but I didn't want to lose what few USB ports I had on my Thunderbolt Display. This card reader adds 2 USB ports, along with various card readers to my computer. Since I leave it permanently plugged into my Thunderbolt Display, it's actually easier to plug in USB devices to my computer (since all ports are on the BACK of the Thunderbolt Display). If I had any complaint, it would be that the included USB cable is too short. That didn't change my star rating, however, because I understand that this card reader is supposed to be portable. I simply extended the the cable with my extra Apple USB extension cable, and problem solved!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only works if I hold it just right This worked great for about a year and now hardly works at all unless I hold it at just the right angle. Clearly it has a short somewhere in the cable. If I don't hold it in just the right spot then there is an error while trying to import. I would expect something that cost this much to last more than one year. I am extremely careful and gentle with me stuff and always kept it stored in a drawer when not in use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Had a problem during testing Performed well, but not the best, in my tests against several UDMA-7 and UHS-1 cards until it quit recognizing CF cards. You can see the study comparing this card reader with the Hoodman, Lexar, SanDisk and Delkin at

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked great for almost a year. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this product initially. Compact, great styling and fast. Eleven months later I tried to put in a CF card. Nothing happened. Pulled out the card and saw a bent pin. The SD section still works great. I guess that is why the Canon 5D III has dual capability, but my 5D II does not. No pins to worry about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Moshi is built tough. I use this in an environment where students bring me flash drives and SD cards all day. I am using the CF slot for my Nikon. I even have students writing on tablets and bring me the micro SD cards to get their projects off. I have burned through three other brands of card readers but my moshi just keep working, so I bought another one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flimsy CF slot Pins in the CF reader bend easily and renders reader useless for CF cards. Also very easy to insert the CF card incorrectly. I haven't tested it for SD cards. It did work on my Mac until the pins bent. Only used it a few times before it broke.
