Compared to the smaller VideoMic GO, the Rode VideoMic camera-mount shotgun microphone offers battery powering, extended low-end response, and customizable audio settings. Its switchable pad and bass roll-off optimize it for mobile journalists, vloggers, and run-and-gun shooters in loud or rumble-heavy environments.
This shotgun microphone features an integrated shockmount that mounts directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or video camera and reduces noise from vibrations and camera handling. The windscreen design reduces wind noise, making it well suited for outdoor shoots. The attached 3.5mm TRS cable ensures easy hookup to your camera, and the dual-mono output means that no channel selection is necessary on your recording device.- Mobile Journalist, Vlogger, Run & Gun

RODE VideoMic Reviews
Best mic yet
This is the best mic I've used thus far. Does a good job picking up sound when attached to the top of my camera. I have yet to use the boom pole but it looks great. Though it's still in the box. TBH I didn't realize I was purchasing a boom pole and dead cat or I wouldn't have got the 3rd dead cat. Still glad I got it for future use purposes. Never know when you'll need one I guess.
Great quality and easy to use
The microphone is a great quality mic and is easy to use on a camera or on a boom.
Best sound around!
I have several projects in the works for this microphone, the first one tonight. It is easily operated, looks like great quality and is exactly as described!
Good for voice -poor on music
If you are looking for a decent microphone for blogs and voice interviews, this Rode shotgun will pass the line. On the other hand, recording live music is another story. The big issue recording music is that this Rode model a mono microphone, and mono, especially shotgun types, microphones tend to cancel reflecting sound waves hitting the mic creating hollow and slightly echoed sounds. I returned this mic and picked up a stereo model and much-improved sound quality.
Great quality for an affordable price
We have a relatively small budget, so this mic was perfect for what we needed and for an affordable price. We used it at a graduation ceremony and the audio quality was great! Cons are that it was bigger than expected, and does not come with the 9 volt battery required for it to work, but these are minor. Definitely recommend this mic.
great Mic for the price
This mic is amazing for the price. Offers clear sound and the included stand has come in amazing. I upgraded from the rode mini shotgun mic and instantly heard the difference in my videos. Highly recommend!
Big help for zoom video calls
I bought this to use for capturing sound in zoom meetings with a small group at one of the nodes. This mic did everything we needed and more. SUPER easy to connect to a camcorder or DSLR. It managed the quiet talkers and loud talkers really well. I'd love it with a rechargeable battery vs the 9 volt, but I wouls buy it again, and recommend it to other. Going to try it on a real estate walk-thru video...can't wait.
Ready to record, just needs a battery
This microphone is just as ordered! It is ready to go out of the box, easy to set up and get ready to work!
