Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III Overview

The black Tamron 14-150mm f/3.5-5.8 Di III Lens is a wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens that is compatible with the Micro Four Thirds standard. This lens has a 35mm equivalent focal length of 28-300mm, suitable for use in almost any situation, and the lens' compact design makes it a highly portable option for everyday use.

The lens construction integrates two molded-glass aspherical elements and one hybrid aspherical element to minimize chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range. Also benefiting the reduction of chromatic aberrations is the inclusion of one LD (low dispersion) glass element, which additionally helps to increase image sharpness, clarity, and color fidelity. Also contributing to an impressive image quality is the seven-blade circular diaphragm, which helps to produce an aesthetic out-of-focus quality. Additionally, for use with movie recording is a stepping autofocus motor, which provides fast, quiet, and accurate AF performance.

Compatible with the Micro Four Thirds standard.
Two molded-glass aspherical elements, one hybrid aspherical element, and one LD glass element help to reduce chromatic aberrations and improve overall image sharpness, clarity, and color fidelity.
A stepping motor autofocus system provides quick, quiet, and precise AF performance that ideally suits HD movie recording and fast-moving subject tracking.
Compact and lightweight design is ideal for traveling and a metal lens barrel provides increased durability and tactility.

question

Has anyone gotten this to work with the GH4 as far as the GH4 stabilization? Stabilization is not available (grayed out) in the menu on the GH4 with this lens. (Camera FW 2.0, Lens FW 1.1)I am shocked!
Asked by: Edward
Is this lens Stabilized? Can't find anything that says it is. The GH4 has no internal stabilization. Could be your issue.

Does this Tamron 14-150 lens extend when zooming?

Yes it does, most lenses under $2,000 will externally zoom. It is rare for lenses to zoom internally.

question

Do current Olympus cameras (E-M1, EM-10, E-M5) do lens distortion correction with this Tamron or do you need an Olympus lens attached to the body?
Asked by: Jim
Oh I wish I could give you a definite answer but I'm not positive myself. I do my photos in RAW and there is not a profile for this lens in PS or LR that I have been able to find and it doesn't say that a correction has been applied. But when I use an Olympus lens it does say a correction has been applied. So I would say the camera does not apply a correction to Tamron lenses. I do not own anything but Tamron and Olympus lenses so can't say for Zeiss or others.

question

Compare IQ, Tamron 14-150mm to Panasonic 45-150mm. Does one give up sharppics for convenience with this type of super zoom?
Asked by: Robert B.
I have not shot with Panasonic but the Tamron is very sharp. It is not prime sharp but through its zoom range it handles itself very well. This lens was my primary lens that I used on my GH4 while at Disney World and it did not disappoint me. I'll be finishing up my review of this lens this week so hopefully it will help you out if you haven't already made a decision on this lens.
