Vanguard 243AV overview

  • 1Description

The Abeo 243AV Aluminum Tripod with PH-113V Pan Head from Vanguard is a sturdy aluminum alloy tripod equipped with the magnesium alloy PH-113V Video Pan Head.

Fast adjustments, compactness and reliability characterize this tripod/head combination. Each tripod leg can adjust independently to 25º, 50º, or 80º angles and with the included short column adapter installed and legs fully spread, the tripod flattens for low-angle shooting. The maximum extendable height is 61.75". Quick-flip leg locks make height adjustment simple and secure. Thick foam on the upper part of each leg makes the tripod easy and comfortable to handle in cold or wet weather and a stabilizer hook extends from the bottom of the anti-spin center column to add weight for further stability.

The PH-113V two-way pan head is made of magnesium alloy and offers smooth movement and a long handle for better control of heavier cameras. The handle can be screwed into either side of the head and the head includes the QS-66 quick shoe and a built-in bubble level. The head is removable in the field, if you wish to replace it.

Aluminum alloy legs are durable and stable
Anti-spin central column remains fixed and keeps camera in place
Legs adjust individually to 25°, 50°, and 80° angles with a quick-release button
Rubber-capped feet prevent legs from slipping
Quick-flip leg locks enable fast setup and are tension adjustable
An included short column adapter allows the tripod to flatten for low angle shots.
A stabilizer hook hangs from base of the center column and holds weights or sandbags to stabilize the tripod. Accessory items can also be conveniently hung from the hook.
Thick foam on legs enable a secure grip in hot, cold, and slippery weather
The PH-113V pan head is a smooth video head made of magnesium alloy that supports up to 13.2 lb. It features lever locks for 360º rotation and frontal tilt movement.
Contains a long handle for better control of heavy cameras and 1/4" and 3/8" attachment threading.
Contains a bulls-eye type bubble level for consistently horizontal shooting
You can replace the included head with an optional head in the field. Loosening the three screws under the head mounting platfrom allows you to unscrew the head, exposing a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting stud.

    Vanguard 243AV reviews

Abeo 243AV Aluminum Tripod with PH-113V Pan Head is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Super light This tripod is very light (almost too light for a video tripod). The pan handle can only be adjusted by the included allen key/wrench which is really a pain, so once its set, no adjusting on the fly. Pros: It does have smooth movement pan and tilt. It comes with a shorter center column (attached at the bottom) so you can replace the longer column for low angle shooting. This only gets 3 stars b/c of the smooth movement. Otherwise I think its overpriced for it's build quality, and too light. I'll put aside to use as a backup tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this tripod! I use this tripod for field work that entails nest and brood monitoring for plovers along the Gulf. It is lightweight and easy to carry. It is durable and withstands the sand, as long as I keep brushed off well. I highly recommend this tripod. It's easy to use and lightweight.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again and again. I am very happy with the product. There is only one drawback. It is a bit heavier than my last tripod, but in Corpus Christi wind holds my scope still. I never had a pan head and enjoy scanning for the birds without having to make adjustment to hold the scope in one position. I have used it several times since I got it and wondered why I had not bought one before. The annual bird counts are coming up starting next week and it will be much easier to scan for the birds without having to lock and unlock the position of the scope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for DLSR Videography! I needed a lightweight, yet strudy and durable pod with a fluid head for shooting video. This baby did the trick, and at a pretty good price! I'll probably get a second one, as soon as I get a second cam! Thanks, B&H, thanks, Vanguard! You made my life easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this tripod! I purchased this tripod for a base of my new Vanguard spotting scope. I used and abused it for a week on a high elevation Mule Deer hunt. Worked excellent and flawlessly. It was far superior to the Vortex tripod I was using. Would definitely purchase again!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing if you have DSLR I shoot a lot of music video and I use DSLR most of the time. This tripod is light, extremely smooth, and very practical. It takes you 3 seconds to takes off your camera and put it back there in your tripod again. For this price , you cannot find a better one

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So good I bought two! I had one of these for a number of years. Now have a second home and bought one for there also so I wouldn't have to carry the one back and forth with my birding scope. I like the foam grips-so comfortable when moving it from window to window.
