Yamaha THR10 overview

  • 1Description

The THR10C from Yamaha is a desktop modeling guitar amp that simulates five different vintage amplifier types and offers a host of on-board effects. In contrast to normal stage amplifiers, the THR10C is intended for off-stage uses such as recording and practicing. Equipped with a USB port, the amp is capable of being used in conjunction with your computer for advanced editing of guitar sounds, recording and playback using the included software package.

The THR10C is equipped with a 1/4" guitar input as well as an 1/8" aux input that can be used for connecting your mp3 player for jamming along to backing tracks. The two full range 3" speakers are designed to accurately reproduce stereo playback from the 1/8" input as well as the sound of your guitar without the need of any additional speakers or amplification.

Engineered to give you a variety of tonal options, the THR10C includes four built-in vintage guitar amp simulations which include deluxe, class A, US blues, British blues and mini presets. There are also three additional input modes that include an acoustic-electric optimized setting, a bass optimized setting and a flat response setting for clean input of non-guitar line sources.

The THR10C offers a selection of effects that make use of Yamaha's Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) technology, which is designed to emulate yesterday's vintage analog gear within today's digital production environment. The effects include compression, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, reverb and noise gate. In addition the amp also features a tape echo simulation that is designed to faithfully reproduce this classic analog effect.

The THR10C can be connected to your computer via USB for a variety of advanced functions. For in depth editing of the amplifier's tonal characteristics and unlocking additional effects and parameters, the downloadable THR Editor can be used. In addition, you can record and edit your guitar playing using the included Cubase AI music production software.

    Yamaha THR10 reviews

THR10C Desktop Modeling Guitar Amp is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent practice / recording amp Overall an excellent product featuring everything you can get out of practice/recording amp. The 5 vintage modeling amp types are very precise to the original sounding amps plus they can be modified on top of that. Phones are a giant plus if you want to practice and not make a ton of noise. AUX input is great for practicing to your favorite tunes or learning them. I have tried many practice amps but found this to be one of the more versatile amps out there for any type of player.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Portable goes pro I've been a street musician for years and avoided electric amps due to all the cons against traveling with too much equipment. An acoustic guitar and strong voice work well. This little box sure packs a lot of options and paired with my Yamaha silent classical guitar this is one fine sounding setup. I love the presets so I can switch from blues to country to folk with a button. Traveling on a recumbent trike all over the USA it is nice to be able to record to my laptop without packing a studio around. I have not had a chance to put it through the paces of hard traveling but have performed at open mics with a single mic on this amp and a vocal mic. got much feedback on how smooth and sweet this combo sounded. My only complaint it the power switch, it sits too high for a battery powered amp and risk of turning on during travel may lead to dead batteries. I will design my own guard to avoid accidental on.
