Vidpro XM-55 Overview

The Vidpro XM-55 is a battery-powered shotgun microphone with a complete bundle of accessories designed for indoor and outdoor recording with HDSLRs, camcorders, field recorders, handheld recorders, and more. The supercardioid polar pattern yields enhanced off-axis signal rejection and focused frontal pickup while the 100 Hz to 16 kHz frequency response provides tonality tailored for intelligible voice reproduction.

The XM-55 includes an adjustable shockmount, a stand mount, and thread adapters to accommodate mounting to a mic stand, boompole, tripod, or camera shoe. It also includes a furry windshield for outdoor shoots, a foam windscreen for indoor recording, and a cushioned hand grip for convenient handheld operation.

A single AA battery (included) powers the XM-55, so no phantom power is required. Thanks to the supplied cables and jack adapter, the mic's XLR output can be connected to devices equipped with XLR, 3.5mm, or 1/4" inputs. The foam-padded hardshell case enables safe and easy transport between gigs.

Hi I just got this and it is working ok but I'm getting a small sequel in my headphones when connecting to a rodecaster. Not sure if it is the rodecaster setup? I tried different headphones.
Asked by: Patrick
Make sure that phantom power on the RodeCaster Pro is turned off since the Vidpro XM-55 is powered by a battery. Also make sure that the mic is not picking up audio from a speaker. If neither of these issues are the source of the noise, please contact us by phone or through live chat on the website and we can help you to troubleshoot.

In assembling the kit, where does the battery go? It came without instructions.
Asked by: steve
Grip your hands around the top and lower portions of the microphone and twist the bottom portion to the left to unscrew the bottom portion and expose the battery compartment. Install the battery and then screw the bottom back onto the mic. Slide the power button on, and a red light will appear to signify that the mic is powered.

question

Would I be better off using the tascam Dr 40 on a shockmount or is this mic better for short films and event recording
Asked by: Anthony P.
The Vidpro XM-55 is best suited for capturing dialogue. The Tascam Dr-40 features a stereo mic, so is better for picking up bigger areas and ambient audio. Either items would work for you, based on your specific needs.

question

How long is the cable?
Asked by: Anonymous
There is also a short XLR to 3.5 mm adapter similar length to the short cable, I purchased a Kopul KOXRSM03 and Kopul KOXRSM015 From B&H for use with my video camera, the adapter works fine, it's just a little clunky having the bulky M-F connection hanging between the mic and camera.
