Carson TD-842ED overview

  • 1Description

The 8x42 3D Series ED Binocular from Carson Optical combines extra-low dispersion (ED) glass elements with a nitrogen-filled housing to create a versatile optic that delivers a bright, sharp image and weatherproof performance. At the core of this general purpose binocular is a fully multi-coated optical path that utilizes ED lenses to transmit bright images that are color faithful and contrast-rich. To preserve image quality and maximize the color fidelity provided by the ED glass, Carson outfits its 3D Series binoculars with phase-corrected BAK4 prisms engineered to align the incoming wavelengths of light and retain lifelike details.

Complementing the extra-low dispersion optical path and fogproof/waterproof construction, the 3D Series binocular features twist-up eyecups and a comfortable 19.5mm eye relief that provides a comfortable viewing distance for most observers. The 8x magnification power equips this set of glasses for a wide range of observations; a 52° apparent viewing angle and 9.8' minimum focus distance extend the functionality to include close-range tasks like birding. An included neoprene neck strap and stabilizing shoulder harness enable comfortable extended-duration observations and help make the 8x42 3D Series binocular well-suited for almost any outdoor activity.

Note: Warning - The case for this device contains magnets which can interfere with pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICD's). Individuals with pacemakers or ICD's should NOT use this product.

Carson TD-842ED reviews

8x42 3D Series ED Binocular is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent binocs! These stand up to Nikon Mk5 and the like with no problem, great for birding, hunting, general use. Excellent eye relief, crystal clear optics, good minimum focus, good focus rate, recommend these highly! (I have had mine for over a year now, birding many places)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent entry-level binoculars I recently bought my second pair of Carson 8x42 binoculars. These are well made, have excellent clarity with their ED glass and fit my hands comfortably. The field of view is comparable to the Nikon 5's but not as good as more expensive models from Nikon or the premium brands like Swarovski that cost considerably more (2X for Nikon 7's, 8X for Swarovski) than these. However, I don't know of any brands that offer wide field of views at this price point, so that is why I call these excellent entry level binoculars. I use these for birding and for now, these are fit my needs well. The only little annoyance with these is the strap tends to work its way loose from the binoculars on occasion and I'd like to see a new design or strap material, but other than that, I give these a big thumbs up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value for a great product I purchased these for my partner. She is an avid birder and is always borrowing her friends bino's. To solve the issue I bought her these. She absolutely loves them.
