The Westcott Rapid Box - 26" Octa Softbox lives up to its name by providing a soft quality of light for your shoe-mount flash that sets up and breaks down in a fraction of the time as most competitors. The box comes complete with a tilting 5/8" receiver stand mount/shoe mount/speed ring combo that disengages quickly from the box allowing it to close like an umbrella.

The 1.0 stop diffusion front face is removable revealing a highly reflective, high-output silver interior. You can soften the light further and defeat hotspots with the separate purchase of the optional 2030-DP Deflector Plate (BH # WE2030DP).

Robust and Durable
The Rapid Box's poles and speed ring are constructed from solid aluminum to minimize weight yet retain durability.
Quick Setup and Tear Down
The Rapid Box opens and closes like an umbrella. No support rods or adapter ring needed. Everything is compact and easy to use.
Sleek and Compact
With a shallow depth, the Rapid Box works in virtually any lighting situation. No matter which box you choose. The Rapid Box series is always compact.
Soft Even Lighting
A screw-in reflector plate will minimize any hot spot. The front diffusion material is the same quality as found on Westcott's current high-quality soft boxes.
Fully Adjustable Stand Bracket
The height and depth are adjustable and compatible with virtually all shoe-mounted flashes.
Utilize Your Speedlite Without the Need for Radio Triggers
External speedlight placement allows firing via built-in slaves and/or IR line-of-site.
Carry Case Included
Durable carry case with shoulder strap is included for simple transportation and storage.

Rapid Box - 26" Octa Softbox is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 205.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super easy setup. Highly recommend watching Wescott's youtube video on how to assemble which is a breeze. The bag is very useful too. When storing in bag, pay attention to the metal part (the cold shoe bracket) not to be in proximity with the umbrella - it may damage it. The pictures come out great - catch light is amazing. Skin tones are great. I had an indoor group shot of 7 in a Vanity Fair style and used it in front of them - all came out lit so well. I highly recommend adding the deflector plate for extra punch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As Advertised I shot a simple backyard wedding for a relative and was not planning on using any large modifiers just speedlights on camera. A family at the end of the wedding wanted a group shot. It was a very dark area. I used a Westcott Icelight to enable focus on my camera and quickly (a couple of minutes) setup the 26" rapid box with the deflector plate. (Only modifier I brought). I placed a Canon 600 EX-RT speedlight in it and used the Westcott Icelight for some shadows. I'm planning on buying another one of these 26" Rapid Boxes. Quick setup and great lighting. I would recommend this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little octabox/ beauty dish The good:Great for fast setups. Seem to be built pretty solid and does not feel cheaply made. Produces nice soft light. Easy to use. Comes with a carrying case. The mediocre:Even being a rapid box, I find that I keep the flash bracket part extended out and sticking out of the bag - saves even a few more seconds during setup but a bit cumbersome to carry or strap onto your main camera case as it weight one side of the bag down. Without the diffusion panel, the light is horrible, so make sure you throw on the diffusion panel for soft, even light...The bad:Not much really - but it definitely should come with the beauty dish plate...seems silly to have to buy that separately...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good But I found a Better Option I liked this softbox and it does what it promises, however I wanted to be able to have two speedlights on it. Also, the fabric had a hole and it was brand new.I returned it and got the Profoto RFi Speedlight Speedring for $$and a Profoto octa 2' for $$. It is more expensive but I can now have more power and the quality of the Profoto softboxes is definitively much better. This setup will last a very lon time and I prefer not to have to buy another softbox in the future; in addition I can use the softbox with a strobe as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brings new enthusiasm for Speedlites Very easy to set up and break down, and wonderfully easy to use with great results. As a softbox, it produces the true, silky wraparound light I've been looking for. The optional beauty dish attachment gives a light like no other I've been able to get with Speedlites, just a hint of highlights but otherwise soft, really good for 3/4 and full length when set back six or seven feet from the subject. Much, much sturdier than a square box I got some time ago, and without the hotspot. Bought quite a few items from B&H, but this is the first time I've felt enthusiastic enough to take time to review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great, sturdy light source on the road I am thoroughly impressed with both the build quality, ease of setup, and quality of light in this relatively small softbox style modifier, and using it as outdoor fill light is simply amazing - both because it does a much much better job than any on-camera flash (including whatever modifier you think would be good for that) and it is super easy to move around and even hand hold while shooting. I actually easily manage to hold this with my left hand, while I shoot hand held on a gripped 5D mark III, and it makes for great lighting versatility. Obviously this is not huge light source, and the flashes you stick into the box are not exactly big monolights, but this thing does the job and then some whenever I am outdoors - hiking, at the street sport park, shooting into the sun, filling in shadows on portraits, etc. I got this with the Deflector Plate, which I highly recommend for an even more even spread of light through the diffuser, and it all fits neatly into the included bag. Stick this thing on a Quickstik or miniboom or whatever, and with an assistant at your side I'd say you could shoot a minimalistic but very capable location based array of portraits, lifestyle, etc. for a whole day and get away with it in fine style.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty nice rig, but Will report the negatives first. It grinds me to have to order the $$ deflector dish separately because I believe it to be a necessary component for the box as its designed (minus 1 star). Secondly, mine came assembled upside down, see photo. That's clearly a quality control issue that Westcott needs to address (minus another star). If B&H works with me on this I will revise the rating. All that said, this 26 octa box is very nice. This is worst rating I ever gave something I really like, a lot. It's very well made, good materials, light weight, should be pretty durable. I would like to see the next version of this box come with an elastic sleeve (sort of like a silver garter belt) to snuggle around the opening where the flash head rests. Quite a bit of light washing back around the opening, particularly with the deflector dish in place. Again, that dish is essential AFAIC.All in all a very nice product I am sure to be satisfied with for quite a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent light modifier for the price I'm a fairly new photographer so with that, I've had the opportunity to use the Westcott Rapid Box - 26 Octa software on three photo shots and so far I am extremely pleased with the results. Once thing to keep in mind is that in my case all three photo shots were with a single person and not a larger group. My setup was composed of the Nikon SB700 mostly in TTL mode but also tested in manual mode. The softbox is really easy to setup and only required me about 2-3 minutes to have it ready. Build quality seems really good too. So far no negatives in the conditions I've shot in.
