Westcott Rapid Box Switch Strip (1x2')
Key Features
  • Durable Framework
  • Heavy-Duty Reflective Silver Interior
  • Soft and Evenly Reflected Light
  • Extremely Portable, Lightweight Design
The Westcott 1x2' Rapid Box Switch Strip lives up to its name by providing a soft quality of light for your shoe-mount flash that sets up and breaks down in a fraction of the time as most competitors. The 1x2' narrow, rectangular shape lends itself to use as a hair light, backlight, or rim light to separate the subject from the background. The long shape also creates elegant highlights on glassware and other reflective objects. The box comes complete with a tilting 5/8" receiver stand mount/shoe mount/speed ring combo that disengages quickly from the box allowing it to close like an umbrella.

question

Is necessary to use the deflector plate with this?
Asked by: Anonymous
You are better off without it. If you photograph the front of the box to see the light pattern, you can see that the deflector plate casts a big shadow right in the middle. Without the deflector plate, and orienting the flash so the beam width is parallel to the long side of the box, and using the WA diffuser on the flash, the light is nice and even.

question

Will this only work for Speedlights or can I use this with my Alien Bees Strobe?
Asked by: David
This Rapid Box Strip is designed for use with a single speedlight. The Rapid Box Strip that works with Studio strobes is the XL strip. These XL units have a built in speedring so order an XL strip with the Balcar, Alien Bees mount. For a Westcott strip that will work with both your Alien Bee and a speedlight, consider the Apollo Strip. All these strip units have an optional grid.

question

My strip bank doesn't open straight. When open, the bank is crooked. How to I adjust it without breaking it? Like the tent isn't on the speed ring correctly.
Asked by: Samantha F.
You do indeed need to loosen the 4 screws on the back to allow rotating the ring.
