This RM-VPR1 Remote Commander is dedicated to select Sony cameras and camcorders and allows various remote control operations to be performed without handling the camera, therefore eliminating camera shake and providing self-portrait and other control applications. I recently bought this & it did nothing on my Sony a7riv or my sony a9ii. I sent it back. I had forgot about one I bought the same time I purchased my sony a7riv ( bought my a9ii from b& h also)from b&h and of course it's too late to send it back because it's junk too & doesnt work. I'd say don't waste your money on this. Wish I could get my money back. Not like it was a very low cost item.

I purchased the RM-VPR1 remote for my older A300 that I have been using more for Macro photography recently. Previously, I had been using the 2 second timer to minimize excess vibration on the body but needed something better. This trigger was just the right component. First impression of the RM-VPR1 was good as well as boxed well inside the Sony packaging. The actual remote is nice quality and matched well to my camera. Connections were easy with a solid terminal plug and the user guide is basic with the traditional Sony format. Overall, this is exactly what I was after and would recommend the RM-VPR1 for anyone who wants a simple shutter release remote. For my A300, the shutter release is the only function which is the function I was wanting. For others who want all the features of the RM-VPR1 using it with an A300 is probably not the best match. I haven't had the trigger much but while using the shutter release I have noticed more of my photos have been in focus more often and with repeatable results. I feel the results are due to using the RM-VPR1 exclusively which minimizes the extra camera vibrations. The overall service from B&H was outstanding. Having my purchase shipped the next day and delivered a couple days ahead of schedule gave me the opportunity to use it before I needed it for a project.

I purchased this item to go with my Sony RX10 IV. I use the camera mostly for video and was hoping to have a controller that was smooth to use for zoom. Unfortunately, it either zooms to fast, too slow or jerky. If using as a B-roll camera or secondary camera with the controller, the controller will work great! Waiting on Sony RX10 V!

If you are taking a mix of video/photography and you need a remote switch, this is the best available. It even includes a useful zoom feature and an on/off switch. As usual for Sony, it is priced upwards but in this case, worth it. Thanks, Sony, I needed this.

Yes, the Sony RM-VPR1 is compatible with the Sony A7S, however, the SELP18200 does not feature internal zoom.
