Sony RM-VPR1 Reviews

Works great once you figure it out.

There are two sets of buttons...one for video and one for stills. For stills: move the lock/unlock to unlock. Pull the spring-loaded side button from on/off to power and release. Wait a sec or two. Push the blocked black button. Then it works like a champ. Pull the spring loaded side button to power and release to on/off to turn off. I haven't tried videos, yet, but it seems to be a simple on/video/off red button. Simple when you know how.

This is a product of the usual Sony quality. The plugs fit well and the various controls produce the desired response quickly. It is meeting my expectations

So Far So Good

I just bought this item and haven't used it much except for some trial runs. So far so good, I like it. It works better than the wireless remote that Sony supplied with the camera, an FDR AX100. The wireless remote only works when I'm positioning it on the right side of the camera - but not the left side. Even then it works kind of on and off, sporadically, unreliably - I can't be sure of a smooth, non-jerky zoom; it stutters, so to speak. The wired remote gives consistent smooth performance. Being tethered to the wire is a limitation but seems worth it for the more reliable functioning.

Does work with FX3

In the BH questions and answers I saw this wouldn't work with the FX3 (and I assume a7siii) so I bought an aftermarket one that claimed to work. Turns out the aftermarket one doesn't work but this one does! Sony oem all the way!

Cannot add to the Amazon descriptions and detail on the page. Very explicit as are all the videos available when a G search is done. These resources explain all you will want to know about the unit. Works really well across both my Sony Cameras.
