MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Aluminum Travel Tripod Reviews

Broke within a few uses

I bought this tripod for my fiancé (then girlfriend) and it was used maybe twice before the adjustable legs just started popping off. I tried to fix the legs myself, but they wouldn’t stay. If you get this tripod, get the protection. (I got the protection but didn’t dare use it because I was worried I would get another defective tripod)

Very impressed with this tripod . First travel tripod and fit in my carry on like a piece of cake! Took it to shoot long exposures in Florida and didn’t disappoint me. After reading reviews from other tripods and this one , I purchased the mefoto. Was solid when shooting with Sony a9 with 16-35 I even extended all legs at one point and was happy with how sturdy it was. The part that you can quickly make this into a monopod within seconds ... hands down . Bought the shirt neck also to shoot low . Highly recommended this tripod . I take it with me everywhere now . Folds easy and very compact .

Got to have with you.

Smartphone to Nikon D3

Recently retired right at the beginning of the pandemic, I found out that a lot of my communication with family and friends was going to be digital. My first few attempts of holding the phone grew tiresome so I called B & H and they helped me select a solidly built, easily portable tripod with a simple movable head that was strong enough to hold my Nikon D3 for my amateur work (tripod is rated for 26 lbs) and yet with the smart phone holder, even my wife can set up for a quick conversation with out of state grandchildren and other family members. I am impressed with the quality of the manufacturing and the easy-to-operate adjustments that can go from ground level to a working studio height. This was the first tripod I ever owned and it has made itself useful and quickly welcomed into our home.

I don't normally go out of my way to review things, but I spent a lot of time looking at new and used tripods. I had a big ask; light, compact, and solid enough / tall enough without using center column to support a Linhof Technikardan 4x5. Almost bought a used Gitzo, looked at many others, I decided, a carbon fiber wasn't so light vs price, and would require a weight to even think about putting the Linhof on it. This aluminum has enough heft that I don't cringe to leave the Linhof on there, although I'm going to hang the backpack on it anyway a lot of the time. It does fold up very small, and seems very well built. When I got it I was sure to open the box and unwrap carefully as I was pretty sure I'd not like it and it would go back... not the case. Sure a bigger tripod is needed for my ask, but when you are traveling by air, or packing gear into a Miata, or taking a long hike, the tripod you need is the one you have.

Will a Kirk L bracket fit on this tripod?

Will a Kirk L bracket fit on this tripod?
Asked by: Ernie
Yes, that is possible. Many of the Kirk L-Brackets, such as B&H # KIBLZ, offer an Arca Type Dovetail Connection. The head on this tripod has an Arca Style Clamp. Just as long as the L-Bracket has a Arca Connection it should work.

Can I use this tripod for Canon G40 camcorder?

It has standard screw on the plate, so any camera/camcorder should fit. But, there is one issue, this tripod comes with ball head. It is good for camera. But might not be ideal for camcorder.
