Excellent

I have several MeFoto tripods(Roadtrip, Globetrotter Air, Backpacker) this is my favorite, I use it for travel, maybe not as small or lighter then some others, but I know this is going to do the job, It's sturdy enough for a DSLR or mirrorless set up with a long lens.

Excellent value; lightweight; Padded monopod

Versatile, lightweight tripod has smooth panning and lock. The ball head is fairly smooth and if you use the in-camera level, it will hold your full size DSLR in position for panorama shots. Firm pressure is required tightening the ball head, however, to prevent creeping. Nice, light tripod to carry in my pack for those landscape shots.

This is the first move tripod I've purchased. I bought it to support a Canon 80D body with a Sigma 150-600C lens. It holds it very nice and sturdy. Also a huge thank you to Dan W for the help via the online chat. I asked for some suggestions based on my set up under $500. He quickly gave me several options and I went with this one.

Solid kit but Nothing special

Its ok, the crown is solid and keeps the meter column stable, the annoying thing is the feet. It comes with a set of spikes you have to completely change out for the rubber ones if you want the spikes, why not make the screw retractable rubber ones so you don't have to carry around and most likely loose these small pieces. Be aware if you change out for the small column piece the legs will no longer fold up as tightly to the centre column.

Super Travel Tripod

This is the best tripod for travel. I have used several tripods in my career as a photographer. This one is the best for travel. It's light and small, but very supportive and sturdy. Highly recommend this tripod.

Stable and easy to use

Before buying this tripod, I wasn't a big tripod user and, when I needed one, used a travel tripod that very much valued portability over stability. After going on a photography tour in which everyone else had a better tripod, I realized I needed to up my game. The MeFOTO Globetrotter is a massive improvement over what I had. The twist locks are big and easy to use with my large hands. The ballhead is easy to adjust, with no drift once everything is tightened. I have not yet had any stability issues, although I have not used it in very windy conditions. It packs up well to go in my checked bag when traveling. I chose the green version so that, when on photography tours, I can easily pick out my tripod from among all the black tripods in the back of a van. I highly recommend this tripod if you're after a decent tripod to take on your travels.

Lightweight yet sturdy

This is lighter weight than my other tripods it is simple and easy to use great for macro. For my heavy long lens i will probably still use my heavier tripods.

Only regret

Wight and height were good for my use. I do not like the leg angle adjustment locks. Have not used the tripod in the field as of yet but upon opening and adjusting several times at home to get used to the tripod, am not happy with the leg angle locks.

Would this support a Sinar F Large Format camera?
Asked by: thomas
I use mine with about 9 lbs of camera gear including a 500mm zoom lens and it handles that well. With the cantilevered weight of the long lens I don't feel close to capacity. Even the ball head is sufficient at that weight. Hope this helps.

What is the point of the drag control knob when the head locking knob seems to control drag as well, and both need to be unlocked to rotate the head?
Asked by: Robert
The drag control allows you to easily move the head while keeping it steady, this can be very useful if you don't have a gimble head and want to use it for tracking birds in flight.

question

Can anyone tell me the different between MeFoto's GlobeTrotter and RiverRoad series. They're priced within $50 of one another, an almost meaningless difference if there are serious quality differences?
Asked by: PAUL S.
The MeFOTO RoadTrip will support 17.6 lbs and get to a height of 61.6 vs. the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter which will support 26.4 lbs and 64.2

question

Is resistant to water and dust
Asked by: Ameer A.
Yes. MeFOTO states their twist lock legs and anti-rotation system provides weather and dust-resistance, and the foam grip on the monopod leg is designed to be beneficial in extreme temperatures when the other tripod legs may heat or freeze from extreme temperatures. It would be recommended for use in a myriad of weather and photographic situations.
