Alto Professional SXM112A overview

  • 1Description

The black Alto SXM112A is an active 2-way stage monitor with an 800W Class-D amplifier, well suited for club installations, rehearsal spaces, gigging musicians, mobile DJs, and houses of worship that need additional sound reinforcement. The monitor speaker utilizes a coaxial design with a 12" LF woofer and a 1" neodymium HF driver that combine to offer a peak SPL of 121 dB.

The enclosure is constructed from thick birch plywood and features a heavy-duty grille that's built to last, while the rugged black textured finish is scratch and dent resistant. The trapezoidal design greatly reduces the resonant standing wave in the cabinet, providing a more accurate sound reproduction. The enclosure also includes a pole-mount cup for mounting the speaker on to a speaker pole. There are 16 on-board presets that allow you to maximize your sound with variations for vocalists, guitar players, pianists, drummers, and sound engineers. The Alto SXM112A ships with a power cord.

  • 800W Class-D power
  • Woofer: 12” coax woofer
  • High-Frequency Driver: 1” neodymium
  • XLR/Line input with volume control, XLR output to link speakers
  • 16 modeling presets to tweak the sonic characteristic of your sound
  • Rugged multi-layer birch plywood cabinet with recessed handles
  • Scratch and dent-resistant finish
  • Flat: This preset provides a typical frequency response for a floor monitor
  • Vocal 1: This is similar to the FLAT preset but includes a high-pass filter to reduce some low frequencies. This preset is optimal for vocal-heavy performances
  • Vocal 2: This is similar to the FLAT preset but includes a high-pass and low-pass filter to reduce some low and high frequencies, emphasizing mid-range frequencies
  • Guitar 1: This preset is optimal for monitoring guitar-heavy mixes
  • Guitar 2: This preset is optimal for monitoring mixes with acoustic guitar. Lower frequencies produced by an acoustic guitar's hollow body are reduced while higher frequencies are strengthened to compensate for the lack of treble from the pickup; you can even connect the guitar directly to the monitor's input
  • Piano: This preset is well suited for acoustic piano as well as electronic keyboard instruments
  • Drumfill+Sub: This preset includes a sharp high-pass filter to remove booming low frequencies, so the monitor can be used in conjunction with a subwoofer for additional control of the low frequencies
  • Twin: This preset reduces low frequencies and enhances high frequencies to optimize the frequency response when two of these monitors are used together
  • Stage: This preset reduces unwanted low frequency resonance encountered on suspended wooden or metal floors
  • Boom: This preset should be used for near-field monitoring when the monitor is placed near a microphone on a boom stand
  • Sidefill: This preset should be used when the monitor is in a sidefill position
  • Antifeedback: This preset sharply reduces the frequencies most responsible for feedback
  • Loudness: This preset reproduces the typical "smile" curve – lowered mid-range frequencies, enhanced bass and treble. This preset should be used with prolonged listening at low sound pressure level (SPL)
  • Full Range+Sub: This preset reduces distortion and coil overheating to reduce power compression when used in conjunction with a subwoofer
  • Entertainer: This preset is best suited for combinations of digital keyboards, vocal microphones, and karaoke/MP3 devices. Both high and low frequencies are enhanced for a clear monitor mix for these devices
  • Rock&Roll: This preset is optimized for a maximum dynamic range without compromising amplifier headroom and speaker power handling

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boom!!! I use this speaker as a monitor for my keyboard. It sounds amazing. Very crisp highs and booming lows when using the drum kit on the keyboard. Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Keyboard Rig using 2 in Stereo I have been looking for a small lightweight powerful system for my keyboards for years. Finally Alto comes through with the goods. 400 REAL CLEAN watts is necessary for keyboards and with a pair of these only weighing 26lbs each, my back doesn't hurt the day after my gig or rehearsal. I got rid of my Mackie SRM450's because the Altos sound cleaner, and are much smaller and lighter.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Only Mids Purchased a pair, one of the was defected (woofer turns on and off by itself) the other couldn't deliver basic full range sound as a keyboard wedge (the keyboard player was u sing a korg Kronos for piano sounds with a flat eq).
