    Audio-Technica Consumer ATH-ANC9 reviews

ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Could Not Be Happier With Them I had a pair of Bose QC3's that failed, and after doing some research and checking out a co-workers QC25's I decided to not go with Bose's trade-in program and look into another brand. I eneded up with these becuase I decided I did not need anything too crazy and was looking for something more well constructed. I liked the way these where built and so I ordered them. Well I have been blown away by how nice they sound and my co-worker who was hard core Bose user loves the sound on them as well. The three types of noise cancellation caspabilities is very nice as well and for me wearing them for hours at at time is no issue, and I am pretty sure these will not break if I fall asleep in them and bettery life is fine, plus they worlk without the battery as well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for travel I have to fly a lot for a new job. These headphones did a great job canceling out turboprop noise in-flight, and even kept the tired toddlers to a dull roar! I could still hear inflight announcements, but it was a joy to listen clearly to an audiobook while I knitted or solved sudoku without the stress of all the background noise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great quality, Reasonable price I work in a busy office and was looking for some noise-canceling headphones to filter out distractions. The ATH-ANC9's caught my eye because of their full feature set and reasonable price (compared to it's peers). The three modes of noise cancellation are surprisingly effective at filtering out specific frequencies or types of noise, depending on your environment. They work well and are very comfortable, but my main complaint is the input for the audio cable is buried deep in the body of the headphones. When I first hooked them up, I thought something was defective because I only got sound out of one speaker. It turns out you just have to really push the cable in to make sure that its completely plugged in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm a musician, the ATH-ANC9 are great These headphones are great. I am a musician. They provide a very true timbre for all instruments and voices. They are extremely comfortable, they become unnoticeable even when worn for for long periods of time. Listening at low sound levels the timbre of instruments remains true and the instruments in ensembles remain well balanced, so I don't have to listen at a loud volume in order to hear what I need to hear. The noise canceling is effective (I use them a lot on the New York City subways), and does not seem to effect any of the things mentioned above. I find myself drawn to using them, I use them constantly. I can't find anything negative to say abut them.I had the ATH-ANC7b. They were OK. The ATH-ANC9 provides subtle but significantly better sound, comfort, and noise canceling. I found the ATH-ANC9 to be preferable to the Sennheiser PXC 450 and the Parrot Zik 2.0 in sound quality, fit and build.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good noise-cancelling for tracking drums I use these while playing/recording drums. It is heresy to some to use noise-cancelling headphones while tracking. I don't care. I love these. They isolate me very well from bleed-through from the drums as I'm playing. Through the headphones I hear what's getting to the microphones much better because they isolate so well. And I don't have to turn up the volume on the headphones near as much because they cancel out the external drum noise so well. I have the Audio Technica ANC-ATH7B noise-cancelling headphones, too - these are much better, and well worth the extra cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Effective noise cancelling This pair of headphones was ordered for use specifically on long airplane rides as well as for use on my tractor while doing yard work. they have three positions for use in different settings which may be a useful feature although I couldn't tell much difference in the noise reduction properties between positions 1 and 2. They were very effective at reducing unwanted noise while on the plane. The sound quality seems good and I like the fact that they work without having power turned on as well. There is no significant passive noise reduction, however. (This is not a problem, I merely point it out because sometimes people ask about this). For use on my tractor the second position worked well. Comfort is another issue. Overall I find them comfortable although there was some fatigue after wearing them for a couple of hours which manifested itself as some aching posterior and inferior to my ears on both sides. This may be because they fit snugly or the fact that the ear pieces seem smaller than the previous pair of headphones I had. I suspect this will improve as I use them some. The one annoying thing with these headphones which I have only noticed in the #1 (airplane) position is a low pitched glug or click noise whenever there is a bump or any movement while wearing them. This makes them impossible to tolerate in this position if there is any turbulence. Fortunately, in the second position it worked fine and so I will keep them. The case is sturdy and keeps them protected while not in use. Overall they are a good value and I am pleased with them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These are solid and well-built headphones.... I use these headphones at the library while I'm studying for the most part, but there are other options to beef up the noise handling in different situations. While I'm somewhat $ constrained while in school, I have found that these can carry on the duties of my Bose headphones and then some---and these seem to be more solid. Definitely glad I made this selection! As for the shipping, etc.--B&H is outstanding as well. I had these headphones in my hands 2 days after I decided to purchase them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Way beyond my expectations These are so comfortable I use them all the time.My wife can be watching her cooking shows and the noise cancelling means I don't have to listen to them. I got them for air travel and I now know they will be purrrfect for taming the engine and kid noise. I always wondered why Audio-Technica was a little cheaper than the other brands, well that turned out to be a big plus for me, they more than fit my needs.
