Optoma Technology DS-9092PMG+ Overview

  • 1Description

The Optoma Technology DS-9092PMG+ 92" 16:9 Format Pull Down Screen is designed to be used in small as well as large conference rooms or for home cinema applications. It is easy to operate as it offers the Selflock feature and Controlled Screen Return. It reflects vivid and colorful images.

You can pull down the screen and hold for 3 seconds, then release. The screen will stay at the desired position.
Controlled Screen Return
This screen features Speed Reduction-Retraction. You can pull down lightly to release the locking mechanism, let go, and the screen will slowly return to the casing instead of just retracting back into the case and possibly causing damage.
Trendy and Elegant
The metal casing is compact and elegant. The white cover is coated with PVC technology that enhances the aesthetics.
The matte white material provides different brightness and viewing ranges, flexible to suit every setting. It allows a wider view range and soft focus.
Speed Control
Some manual screens have locking systems that secure screens into place but do not have speed-reducing mechanisms. Screens may retract too fast and damage both the screen and casing. It may cause rips in the screen or the bottom bar may detach. Sometimes, the whole screen may fall. So, it is equipped to control both the speed and self-lock, which prevents any damage to the screen and casing.
It is suited for various venues such as education facilities, meeting rooms, control rooms, training facilities, home theatres, boardrooms, or other entertainment sites.

    Optoma Technology DS-9092PMG+ Reviews

DS-9092PMG+ 92" 16:9 Format Pull Down Screen is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Update Well, the curling did not completely go away after my last review just a few months ago, and in fact has gotten worse, even when leaving down for a few days. Also, the screen lock in the down position is very finicky and you have to play with it to get it locked in the right position, sometime requiring 4 or 5 tries. Since this was a special order item, it is not returnable. I think I will likely be shopping for another screen soon and this time will read all reviews more carefully. Not B&H's fault ... just a cheap, badly made screen. Will try to contact the manufacturer since it is supposed to have one year warranty, but shipping along could cost a lot and I no longer have the shipping carton (my mistake ... I ALWAYS keep shipping cartons until the end of the warranty period.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok screen but has curling at the edges. I bought this to replace an older Optoma DS-9092PM Graywolf screen which had become damaged. Optoma no longer offers the Graywolf but this screen appeared to be adequate. I do like the slow retract system, although a bit noisy, it prevents that sudden and instant retract with the older screen, which could damage the screen and/or mechanism. What I don't like is that the edges of the screen (the left and right black borders) tend to curl a bit. Although at this point it doesn't seem to affect the white viewing area. If left out for a day or two, the curl almost disappears, but if you retract the screen, say for a day, the next day the curls are back when you first pull it down. Never had this with the older screen. The newer screen is apparently different material (cheaper???) . I did read about this curl issue on reviews on other sites, but only saw them after I ordered. Also, I was hoping it would be a simple matter to raplace the old screen since they had almost identical model numbers (DS-9092PM vs DS-9092PMG+). The distance between the mounting key slots on the bracket on the newer screen was 9/16 narrower. Since I already had some mounting hardware installed, which also included a few inch offset from the wall ... necessary du to picture on the wall below the screen ... I had to move one of the mounts over by this amount. Not a big task, just a slight inconvenience. The screen has a gain of 1.0 (vs. 1.8 on the older screen) but it seemed as bright as the older one, if not brighter. Other than the curling issue, it appears to be a well made screen and the slow retract is a plus (several other manufacturers now offer this as well). Also, there were some complaints on other reviews about a strong odor when you first pull down the screen. It is the smell of the PVC material used in the screen, but disappears after leaving it completely down for a day or two. It was a relatively inexpensive screen, so I won't complain about the value. I am just hoping the curl issue goes away after time.
