The Panasonic HC-X920M-KE 3MOS Camcorder is a PAL system camcorder for international use. It features three BSI MOS sensors with an effective size of 1/4" for recording Full HD 1080p video at 50 frames per second in the AVCHD format and can taking up to 20.4 MP still photos. It records video and photos internally to 32GB of built-in flash memory and can accept SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory cards (not included). The 12x Leica Dicomar zoom lens has a max aperture of f/1.5 and a 35mm equivalent focal length range of approximately 29.8 to 399.2mm. In addition, the optical zoom is supplemented by a 25x Intelligent Zoom. Built-in Wi-Fi enables real-time streaming and remote control via a smartphone or tablet. Other features include a 3.5" LCD touchscreen monitor, Five-Axis Hybrid OIS optical image stabilization, 5.1-channel surround sound recording, and iA Plus Mode.
Three 1/2.3" MOS Sensors with BSI
The imaging system feature three MOS sensors with back-side illumination (BSI) and a total size of 1/2.3" each. Of this total size, the camera uses approximately a 1/4" portion of the entire sensor to accommodate Panasonic's existing prism system. This means the effective sensor size for the camera is approximately 1/4". This effective size yields a 35mm equivalent focal length of 29.8 to 399.2mm
F/1.5 Leica Dicomar Lens
The lens features an f/1.5 maximum aperture when positioned at the widest zoom setting to help let as much light as possible pass to the image sensors under low-light conditions. A Nano Surface coating is applied to the lens to help reduce lens flare and other optical artifacts that might soften the image
5-Axis Hybrid O.I.S.+
The image stabilization system in the HC-X920M-KE combines electronic and optical correction to counteract unwanted shake while shooting hand-held. By operating on five axes, the system is capable of providing compensation even with the camera placed at an awkward angle; unlike two-axis systems, where the camera needs to be relatively level on the horizon to work effectively
20.4 Megapixel Photo Recording
Not only does the HC-X920M-KE shoot full HD video, it can also snap JPEG stills at up to 20.4 MP resolution, capturing them in the 16:9 HDTV, 3:2, or 4:3 aspect ratios
3.5" Touchscreen LCD Monitor
The 3.5" flip-out LCD features a 1,152,000 dot resolution and fingertip touch-operation. When shooting, you can activate the shutter simply by touching a fingertip on the screen. For playback, you can also change thumbnail pages by sliding a fingertip across the screen
A pull-out LCD viewfinder allows you to see what you are shooting even on the brightest days. The viewfinder features a 263,424-dot resolution
A user defined manual ring to give you more precise control than the menu settings. The ring can be configure to operate focus, iris, zoom, or exposure settings
Uses an accelerometer to detect horizontal and vertical angle of view, helping you keep the camera level while shooting hand-held
iA (intelligent Auto) and iA Plus
iA attempts to sense shooting conditions and automatically adjusts exposure and white balance setting in response. The iA Plus Mode allows you to adjust exposure compensation and white balance using a button on the touch screen
In-camera effects that can be applied to add an additional aesthetic element to your movies include: Miniature Effect, 8mm Movie, Silent Movie, and Time Lapse
5.1 Channel Built-in Microphone
Multiple electret condenser microphones built into the camcorder are designed to capture audio from different directions to recreate the natural aural ambiance of a scene. The Wind Noise Canceller regulates the low-cut filter to help reduce wind noise
Plug and Copy Hard Drive Host Function
Connect an external USB hard drive to offload your footage and still photos in case you can't get to a computer. The hard drive must have a capacity between 160GB and 2TB, must be formatted in FAT32, must not have more than one partition, and must be connected directly to the camcorder
Wireless Streaming Capability
Built-in Wi-Fi allows the camera to stream video wirelessly to an access point for viewing across an in-home network or even upload live to Ustream so that others can watch important events as they happen. In addition, the Panasonic Image App allows you to remotely operate various camera settings, including zoom, shutter, record START/STOP, as well as check audio levels using a smartphone, tablet, or other compatible mobile device. Finally, scenes and photos can be selected and shared directly to various social media sites, including Facebook, YouTube, and flickr
Supports 3D Capture
The HC-X920M-KE is capable of recording 3D video when used in conjunction with the VW-CLT2 3D conversion lens, sold separately. The imaging system in the camcorder records both the right- and left-eye channels at 1080p resolution each
2D to 3D Up-Conversion
The 3D conversion function converts footage originally shot in 2D to simulated 3D when the camera is connected to a compatible 3D HDTV via HDMI
Crystal Engine Pro II
Provides the processing power needed to drive the pixel-shifting method the HC-X920M-KE uses to obtain Full HD video as well as 20.4 MP still photos
