I love this plate, got it to use with the Westcott 26 Octa Rapidbox. This plate gives a better distribution of light by preventing the hotspot in the middle. Would not get one of the softboxes it fits without it.

Cheaper than a beauty dish

Must have accessory to turn your Westcott Octas into a beauty dish. This is by no means a beauty dish replacement, but works in a pinch with surprising results.

This diffuser is useful, maybe even necessary, for the smaller Westcott Rapidbox to prevent hot spots.

Works Well

It works well with my Westcott Rapid Box Octa. What keeps me from a 5 star rating, as many have said, it should be included in the kit for that light modifier.

Worth the money

I use speed lights and this deflector helps spread the light more evenly into the reflector of the Rapid Box. Easy to use

question

I lost the bolt for this, can I buy just that?
Asked by: Anonymous
The screw is a 5mm, 0.8mm thread pitch (coarse), 10mm long threads. The head appears to be made to accommodate tightening with a coin. If you don't care about having the same head configuration a replacement could probably easily be found at a hardware store. Screw it in tight & leave it.

question

Without the bolt, what's the diameter of the hole in te middle? Would it fit in a 8mm shaft?
Asked by: Wirton
The center of the plate is a touch smaller than 8mm. And the plate is not designed to work with the softbox without the screw and bolt.

question

Does this plate fold with the octa box or does it need to be removed to pack?
Asked by: Alan J.
Yes, it needs to be removed. But, it is very quick and easy to do, and it stores in the pouch along with everything else.

question

I recently bought the rapid box and the reflector plate. I'm a little confused regarding the setup though. The picture on the B&H website has the reflector plate with the inside facing the flash while the Westcott website has it set up with the inside facing away from the flash (unfortunately I already removed the sticker on the reflector plate. Can anyone please help clarify? Thank you in advance!
Asked by: Michael K.
I just prefer it with the inside facing the flash. To me the scourged surface helps soften the overall output with or without the diffusion cover. Best is to do several test shots both ways, and just see which effect you like best for your style. There really is no right way. You can also watch different photogs use it either way on YouTube.

question

Hi team, I was just wondering what flash zoom would work better with deflector plate? Wide ie 24mm or something like 100mm, for better flash power output and filling up the whole rapid box with light. Thank you
Asked by: MIKHAIL I.
Agree, longer is probably better for most, but with my darker skin subjects trial and error always saves the day, unless Im shooting film.

question

Is it the same deflector plate regardless of size of the Rapid Box?
Asked by: Allen
The 20 and 26 speedlight Rapid boxes use the smaller 2030DP while the 36 and 48 studio versions of the Rapid box suggest the larger 2040DP. The speedlight Duo version could use either, though I prefer the larger 2040DP for this model.

question

Will 2 Profoto A1's work with this...
Asked by: Kevin
This product is just the plate (I think), they'll likely work with the Rapid Box Duo but you'll have to get your ruler out and maybe contact Westcott. I can say however it's a top shelf piece of kit.
