The Quantum LS19 160x120 Thermal Monocular from Pulsar is a user-friendly imager made for close to mid-range observations during the day or at night. By identifying slight differences in the heat signature within the field of view, a thermal imager is capable of producing an image regardless of the amount of visible light; it can also see through fog, smoke, and rain to reveal subjects not visible even in a well-lit viewing conditions. The LS19 version of the Quantum monocular has a 9Hz frame rate, which works well for adequate image speed during most recreational viewing tasks. A germanium glass lens system allows the Quantum monocular to maximize the transmission of thermal radiation to the microbolometer.

In addition to the germanium optics, the LS19 has several features that make this monocular both easy to handle and rich with functionality. A staggered button layout makes accessing the interface controls easy for right and left-handed users alike. Multiple image brightness and contrast settings, as well as two polarity modes allow the operator to adjust the image to suit the viewing conditions. Using the video output port, the image seen on the 640x480 OLED display can be sent to remote monitor or recording device, a useful function for naturalists observing nocturnal species or law enforcement personnel collecting evidence.

Additional features include an angled eyecup that hugs the side of the viewer's face and reduces glare, as well as an accessory Weaver rail and tripod mounting socket ready for extended-duration viewing tasks. Pulsar packages this thermal monocular with a carrying case, hand strap, video output cable, DC car power adapter and backs the LS19 with their 3-year warranty.
