A general-purpose contrast filter for black and white photography, the 39mm Yellow MRC 022M Filter from B+W helps to increase contrast when working outdoors by suppressing blue and other cool tones. The medium yellow of the color results in a darkening of blues and greens, while lightening yellows, reds, and other warm tones, in order to produce a more naturally appearing outdoor scene. This results in increased cloud definition and reduced atmospheric haze for improved clarity.

This filter features a Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC), which helps to lessen surface reflections and ghosting for maintained contrast, and the coating also resists scratching, dirt, and water for physical protection. Schott glass is also used to maintain imaging integrity and optical clarity, and it features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Standard yellow filter provides the same effect as a Wratten 8 contrast filter, and helps to darken blue and green tones, while lightening warm yellow and red tones, when photographing in black and white.
Helps to produce natural-looking clouds and works to clear distant light haze for a more accurate portrayal.
Filter factor of two requires one additional stop of exposure to maintain normal results.
Multi-Resistant Coating helps prevent ghosting and surface reflections and is also scratch--resistant as well as water and dirt repellent to physically protect the filter substrate.
Constructed from Schott glass for optical clarity.
F-Pro brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming and provides additional strength.
Plastic case included for storage and transport.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The essence element for Monochrom photographer Actually I was hesitating buying this filter at beginning. But I thought why not give myself a try? Then I ordered one and waited for almost 3 weeks and received mine thins morning. Just can't wait to try. The result is very good and satisfying. It adds contrast of images in a naturally way. Gradations and layerings are more beautiful and more reasonable. This filter is well made and solid. A great match with my Apo-Summicron 50mm on Monochrom 246.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from durable yellow filter for B&W photograph I'm using this filter to help an otherwise color-blind Leica M Monochrom with its B&W rendition of color, exploiting the capability of a yellow filter to reduce haze, differentiate clouds from sky, & improve skin rendition. B+W filters consist of high quality glass (why put window glass in front of good glass?) in a brass mount (less likely to bind).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B+W filters are always first choice When in need of a filter for a lens I have been using B+W filters for several years. Never a failure or a problem. I recently purchased a Monochrom camera and had been reading about others who have used the contrast filters when shooting landscapes to boost contrast. I am enjoying the results. I highly recommend B+W filters!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A real B+W convert I recently tried B+W filters, mostly because they provided the more "unusual" sizes for my Leica glass. I am sold, as they are great accompaniments to my Leica lenses, and I will use them going forward on my Pentax lenses. Great clarity and control of internal reflections.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your Blue Eyed Friend! I use this filter for portraits of females and children with blue eyes. I love the POP! B+W has been my filter of choice for well over 20 years. I believe they set the bar, for all other threaded filters.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just as described This filter is well-made from a manufacturer with an excellent reputation. I use it to accentuate skies etc with B&W film. Multicoated so it should hold up well to frequent use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I leave it on my lens most of the time. I use this most of the time outdoors when shooting black and white film. I ocassionally use an orange filter instead. Protects my lenses and gives a little extra contrast.
