The Blackmagic Design DeckLink Mini Monitor is a PCIe slot playback card with both SDI and HDMI outputs for color-correcting or delivering client presentations in more precision on top-resolution HDMI or SDI monitors. You'll be able to send video from your computer to a large HDMI display locally or to an SDI monitor up to 300 ft away.

The card outputs up to 10-bit uncompressed video, and you can output by SDI and HDMI simultaneously or through only one of these. All the outputs are active, so once you plug a cable into them, they'll begin functioning. The card automatically switches between SD and HD, so it'll handle all common video formats.

Outputs
  • SDI 10-bit SD/HD switchable video with 16 ch HD / 8 ch SD embedded audio
  • HDMI type A video with 8 ch audio embedded in SD and HD
4-Lane PCI Express Card
The Mini Monitor is a 4-lane PCI Express card and is compatible with 4, 8 and 16 lane PCI Express slots on Mac OS X, Windows 8 and Linux. The only Mac capable of accepting the card is a Mac Pro as other Macs can't be opened to enable installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It does what the box says I am a video producer and I installed this card into my hackintosh and even that system, it works great! I am able to monitor Premiere Pro and After Effects on my 52 LCD monitor over HDMI. Set up was easy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well with ProTools Very handy for putting the video you're working with up on a HDMI television monitor or out through an HDMI splitter to several monitors. It is not as versatile as a graphics card which allows your video monitor to be treated as a fully functional computer monitor, but it is lower in cost. If all you need is to view video output from apps such as a DAW like Cubase or ProTools or NLE's like Adobe Premier, the DeckLink Mini Monitor is a nice solution.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Compatible with some Dell Computers Purchased card for a Dell Precision T5600 Workstation which I use for video editing. Card would not function at all. Contacted Blackmagic Design tech support. Short hold time and very helpful. They said they have experienced problems with the card on Dell computers. Tested the card in a different Dell computer and got video out (both HDMI and SDI) but no audio. So the card appears to be functioning (at least partially). I'm wondering if it could be a driver issue/conflict. Since I need the card for the workstation, I'm going to try to return it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from half baked ? When purchasing this card I already had experience with the mini monitor 4k and due 2 - with both I had a good experience. I chose this model since it uses PCIe x1 - giving more option for installation on loaded motherboards. Unfortunately, I found the card is not compatible with the software API as the other two cards - so it requires changes to the software (also another driver) - in addition, it had major RF issues - while the SDI output is fine, the HDMI output has snow on it. Since I was sure it is a hardware defect, I immediately ordered another one - just to find out that they are all the same .... (so now I have two useless cards) So, to conclude, it a nice idea of a product, nice price - it just need to work, and it doesn't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Perfect I'm using the DeckLink Mini Monitor to playback video to an LCD TV - That's about it and it seems to do that very well. I wish it had separate analog audio outputs but I can work around this by using an HDMI audio extractor - Not a big deal. Easy install on Windows8.1 and tested with Edius7 for playback. Adobe Premiere 5.5 works well too. High quality and very affordable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quick and Easy! Added this piece to my 2009 Mac Pro and it works great! The HDMI and SDI outputs work simultaneously so I can power 2 screens with the outputs. I thought I was having issues with it interfering with my bluetooth magic mouse at first, but that problem seems to have gone away. I've read about that in a small percentage of users though, so we'll see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge Value using this card to run an HD TV via HDMI and a broadcast monitor via BNC, frees up memory on my video card. For $, this is the cheapest way to connect a large TV or monitor. No negatives. Does what it's supposed to for a great price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it's designed to do It's a good tool for outputting video from premier, FCP, after effects or resolve. The only con is unlike matrox there is no screen calibration tool.
