Rapid Box Octa XXL for Bowens (48") is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Octobox...Just not 48 Inches. Not even close! As the headline states: This Westcott Rapid Box XXL for Bowens (48") is a good softbox, with excellent build quality and excellent lighting. However, it is not 48 inches, as advertised, which I found to be disappointing. According to my measurement, this softbox is about 40 inches, and that may be a little generous. So, if you're looking for a well-built 40" octobox, then buy this item. However, if you buy this item expecting a 48" softbox or at least something in the 48"-ballpark (like, let's say, 45"), then you will likely be as disappointed in Westcott's false adverstising as I was.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed for on-location portrait shoots I ordered the Rapid Box Octa XXL primarily for location portrait shots. In just a week, I've already used it several times, & I couldn't be happier with it. It's an amazing modifier (particularly how light & portable it is, not to mention the quality of light it puts out). The build seems very sturdy, but I love the fact that I can have it out of the bag & set up in under a minute (I've been leaving both diffusion panels connected while the Octa is folded up). Plus, for just a little extra, you can buy the deflector plate and turn the Octa into a giant beauty dish. The deflector plate also installs in just a matter of seconds, and it gives your portraits an entirely different (edgy) look to them. It's like getting a whole extra light modifier for just a few dollars extra. When comparing with my Paul C. Buff softboxes, the Rapid Box is significantly lighter, significantly faster to set up, and has similar (great) lighting quality. Granted, the Paul C. Buff gear is built like a tank, but when going on location, I'll be carrying this Rapid Box from now on. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great softbox, particularly when shooting out & about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny!! Amazing product!!! For the size of this softbox I can't believe how easy it is to setup and take down. You are literally up and shooting in a few seconds and then in a few more seconds you are packed away. This product feels very well built and strong and the material feels high quality. It also puts out amazing soft light and perfect for on the go shoots. I use this with my portable strobe for outdoor shoots and it's a perfect combo. I can't stop talking about how good it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceded my expectations! I was 50/50 on ordering this product because of some of the reviews, but the first time you set it up you will love this product, the first time you see how soft the light is you will wonder how you lived with out this octobox.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not sure its worth the price.. I went back and forth on purchasing this for a few weeks before I moved forward, $ is a lot to spend on one modifier, but I knew the Westcott brand was reliable and I've seen the examples and videos on this so I was pretty much sold. When I received this, I was surprised how large it was. Obviously being 48 it's expected to be large, but I was a bit taken back by its size and depth and even concerned if I could even use it in my medium size studio space in my home, (basement studio with 10' ceiling). The material this is made from is very light weight and its certainly great taking on location. Though I had some concerns about how easy it might be able to be ripped, not a lot, but some. My biggest issue with this, and main reason for the 3 star rating was the locking mechanism. I've seen the videos and I even own a 26' Rapid box, so I felt like I knew how to use it. But it still would take me 5 minutes or more to mess with before I gave up and hoped it didn't collapse or felt comfortable it actually locked. It just didn't seem to be as easy as they made it look or as easy as my smaller rapid box. I may have gotten a defective one, I don't know for sure, but I did send this back after one client session. I opt'ed to purchase the Paul C Buff 35 Octabox which has a much more durable exterior, and the locking mechanism is simple to use and for all about half the price, of even the Rapid Box XL.. Though it's probably twice has heavy..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredible light I would love to give this a raving 5 stars because I think that highly of it, but, there is one thing that is very frustrating to me. It swivels. I understand the purpose of it being able to rotate, but to me the benefit of it rotating is FAR outweighed by the difficulty this causes during set up and take down. They put in a zipper opening to make set up easier, but it just doesn't solve the issue in my opinion. That being said, the rest of the set up process is magically easy and the light from this modifier is just beautiful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome lighting tool Bought with Bowens style mount built in so I could use with Bowens or Impact studio strobes. I bought a Bowens S mount to speedlight adapter so I could use on location too. Either way it creates big, soft, wrapping light around a subjects face. With the deflector plate option you have three very distinct lighting choices. Giant octobox, giant reflector, or giant beauty dish. Key aspect is how easy it is to set up. Like an umbrella. So much easier than a typical soft box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to put up, easy to take down, well constructed This is huge and light for its size. I bought the Bowens mount version for use on a Godox AD-B2 bracket. I was concerned that one AD200 wouldn't fill the Octa XXL but got good results for some shots of my dog with just the one and two AD-200s in the AD-B2 bracket would illuminated a small group. It opens easily and the inner and outer diffusers are easy to attach. Lock the rods by twisting counter-clockwise, and use the zippered access when removing the Octa XXL from a mount. The silver lining is light leak proof and puts all the light forward. It's higher priced than some of the alternatives, but better made. 48 inches isn't the biggest octabox available, but it's portable, easy to open, and light weight for its size. When taking the Octa XXL down, I unfasten the inner liners about half way around so the center rod doesn't catch on them, The whole setup fits in the carrying case. This can also be turned into a giant foldable beauty dish, but I haven't tried that yet. With three different modifiers or using only the Octabox without, you have a number of different possible combinations: Octabox alone, Octabox with beauty dish accessory, Octabox with the inner diffuser, Octabox with the outer diffuser, and so forth.
