Porta Brace HIP-3LENS overview

  • 1Description

The HIP-3LENS Hip-Pack Lens Case from Porta Brace is a large pack that comfortably stores up to three lenses with a maximum length of 7" and various accessories. Its top loading, zippered front compartment offers quick access to your lenses when shooting. Furthermore, it can sit comfortably in the back (fanny) position and be pulled around to rest in the front for better access to lenses.

The interior of the hip pack provides padded dividers that can be adjusted to fit the lenses you are carrying or removed completely. The interior is lined with copper-colored nylon-loop fabric to prevent damage or scratching to your lenses and for easy visibility of your equipment.

The construction of the pack is semi-rigid, padded, and built from 1000-denier Cordura fabric. It provides a zippered "shelf-pocket" on the top, three front slip pockets, and side pockets for additional small accessories. The nylon waist belt is wide and generously padded and closes/opens with a quick-release squeeze clasp.

    Porta Brace HIP-3LENS reviews

    HIP-3LENS Hip-Pack Lens Case is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for what I needed I use this when shooting video with a Canon 70D. It holds three additional lenses, a Pelican SDHC card case, three Tiffen Variable ND filters, spare camera batteries and a camera battery charger. It's traditional Porta-brace quality i.e tough as nails. I'm able to keep my lens choice close at hand, batteries, cards and filters right with me while I'm shooting. It can be worn front or back and can move to the front or the back if I need to bend over or drop down to shoot. Before I got this bag I had a normal camera bag that was too big and bulky to wear so my gear was always somewhere else. I shot mostly with prime lenses so I swap out the lens fairly often. This has made me more efficient by allowing me to keep my most used gear close by.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for multiple lenses If you have multiple 'large' lenses that you like to carry around on your photo trips, you'll need a waist pack like the HIP-3LENS pack. A 'normal' sized waist pack just won't fit all your lenses, particularly if they're long zooms or primes. I carry my camera on a sling (with a 24-70mm zoom, usually attached), and bring my 20mm, 105mm macro, and 70-300mm zoom in the pack. There're 3 compartments, in addition to the lens storage area, providing lots of room for filters, batteries, and assorted other accessories. There are multiple user-installed, velcro-attached dividers to protect the lenses from each other, which may be configured as you choose. The pack is not very heavy when empty, and is a great way to carry multiple lenses.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged carry-all waist pack The first one that was sent to me had some quality control issues--one of the side belt zippers had no zipper head, and some of the stitching in the main compartment was coming off. I sent it back for a prompt, hassle-free exchange. I bike/walk around all day for my job and needed something to carry my gear with me, while having easy access to it. it holds my Fuji x-e2 body with 35mm lens attached, and two other lenses. It also has pockets for lots of other accessories. Very well made, too.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Zipper pulls make tinkling noise. The picture is not accurat First, the zipper pulls make tinkling noise when you move, so videographers beware. The clip with the velcro clip strap - I didn't get that. Instead, I got a piece of junk clip on flashlight (that didn't even work) the kind of junk that's given away at trade shows. The orange cord on the zipper pulls I didn't get that either. The bag and belt are decent. I will have to cut the zipper pulls off and replace them with some cord to stop the jingle sounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Even Better than I had Expected This hip pack has more features than I had expected. Velcro on the belt to add other cases, Zippered pockets in the belt for small items. Easy to adjust and wear. Overall neat little pack. It will not hold multiple lenses if one of them is a longer telephoto.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good case for hiking The HIP 3 Lens pack is a good case, solidly made but if you are a small person, it might be big for you. It's difficult to find a case that can be worn by a woman yet carry the same load as a bigger pack and not be a backpack. I like the concept of a hip pack and I can handle this size. I don't plan to put that much in it but it certainly has the space for a camera and several lens. I'm glad I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from As requirements increase, I may preposition a number of bags Used this bag extensively over his weekend and it honestly saved my feet and legs having to have a fill-in flash, telephoto, and wide-angle with during an event shoot requiring freedom to roam with equipment on hand without weighing me down and bulkiness of my large bag.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very large and very useful I love this thing. It has space for 3 full frame (200mm max) lenses (or 4 crop lenses). The pockets are good for keeping cards, a blower, microfiber cloths, batteries... phone. This thing really has a lot of space and they make the band large enough to feel like a back brace so its comfortable to wear all day for event shooting. No more wearing cargo shorts/pants to shoots for me. THANK GOD.
