Separating itself from the pack, this zoom features an exceedingly bright f/1.8 constant maximum aperture, which suits its use in difficult lighting conditions and offers impressive depth of field control throughout the zoom range. The optical design incorporates a series of SLD and aspherical elements, which help to achieve high clarity and sharpness by suppressing various aberrations, color fringing, and distortion. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, too, which controls lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color accuracy. Balancing the optical merits, this 18-35mm also sports an advanced Hyper Sonic Motor, along with an internal focusing design, to promote fast, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.

Beautiful lens
We are using this lens on a Black Magic Design Studio Cam (older model) with a metabones adaptor, and it works beautifully. The low light application is great.

Outstanding Sharp Lens
I use only Canon L Series but I'm glad I gave this a try. This Lens is sharp and fast which produces clear images. I'm impressed by the build quality, f-stop and quality of lens. This rivals the canon L and even Zeiss lens. What an outstanding innovation for the 18-35mm range.
Great Image, Lackluster Focus Ring
I bought this lens to use with my Canon C70. The image is great - sharp, 1.8 aperture, not too much distortion, and an ideal focal length (for me) for a Super35 sensor. The autofocus seems to be okay, not the best; unfortunately it's pretty loud. The internal zoom isn't a huge draw for me but it's a nice feature. Although, there are times when I wish the lens was a little shorter at the 18mm focal length, but that's just one of the small cons to having internal zoom. The biggest con for me (and why I'm returning it) is because I do a lot of manual focusing and the focus ring on this lens is so stiff. Granted, this is not what this lens was made for, but it's weird because I've owned the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and didn't have any issues with it. I found it really hard to reliably pull focus because you have to really twist the ring with force. But the other issue is that if I switch it to autofocus, it's very loud and not reliable enough. This might just be Canon's autofocus or my settings, but I generally prefer manual focus anyways - and again, I never had an issue with that on the 24-70mm. This lens is great for the image you get, and most likely a fantastic lens for photography, but I can't recommend this lens for video if you do a lot of manual focusing.

Have worked with this lens on a couple jobs now, and it hasn't disappointed. Definitely a good go to.
My bread and butter lens.
I bought this 4 years ago and I still use this Sigma the most often. Whenever I go on trips and can only manage to bring one lens with my BMPCC 4k or 6k, I always grab this one. Especially love this in tight spaces.
