Chimera LED Lightbank Reviews

You probably don't need this

If it were $60, I'd say, it's great. Otherwise, use the barn doors and some diffusion gel. You'll get a larger light source, and more control over the amount of diffusion. That said, if you need your rig to look really clean (without clothes pins hanging off), or are doing run and gun interviews and need your diffusion to not flap around or bleed out the sides, then this is sturdy and clean looking.

A Bit Spendy

Needed a softbox for my Dracast LED500 lights. You get very little for the money. Not an overly skillful build and the materials might cost $10-20 max. Does okay as a lightbox but I have a SilverDome that works better on a another light that is bigger and a better build for less money.

provides decent softness to Dracast 500

Does a decent job but an awful lot of money for what you get. Simple frame, outer fabric with wire supports and diffusion front. No place to put filters as this occupies the filter slot.

Great add-on

Love this for my dracast lights. Much needed for a soft key.

Well Designed Modifier

The product is well designed and modifies soft light around the subject where I need it. I use the modifier on my Dracast 1000 while doing boudoir shoots or being a light assistance to other continuous lighting setup. Since I found this modifier, I have come to love my 1000 and use more and more these days.

Nice Softbox

These things are great. They are quick and easy to set up. Slides right into the light panel and you are ready to rock. I do wish they had larger sizes but they are great.

A giant box that mocks the intent of a real softbox

Waste of money. Just get a sheet of diffusion instead. This cuts the light and still leaves a defined shadow. At least with the diffusion you can keep a lower profile and not have to remove your barndoors.

Not so good

Pretty expensive for what you get. The diffusion doesn't do a great job, the individual LED beams are visible if your light is close to the subject, that is they don't blend into a single large light source, but appear as a grid of light beams. It doesn't fold away or pop-up, so you will have to assemble it each time you use it if you want it stored flat.

question

How do you attach the softball to the light?
Asked by: Anonymous
The softbox is designed to be used with the TruColor Cineo HS Medium. It comes with a speedring/bracket that attaches to the light and the softbox.
