No, the SHAPE ARRI Locating Top Handle requires a cage to be mounted onto the Sony FX30 Digital Cinema Camera.

Does this top handle have a hot shoe connector at it's base? If so, how does it work if the XLR1 adapter is connected to the camera's hot shoe?

Hello Jon, Thank you for your question! This top handle was designed so it can be attached at the top front of cages when audio units are also used. It leaves enough space to attach an audio unit on top of cages. This handle does not have a hotshoe connector.
