Nikon HB-58 overview

  • 1Description

Improve visibility and reduce flare with the dedicated Nikon HB-58 Bayonet Lens Hood for the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens. The petal-like design provides enough coverage to block stray light from entering the lens, while preventing the hood from showing up in the frame and causing vignetting. Additionally, since the scalloped edges protrude beyond the front element of the lens, they protect it against light impact if you get too close to your subject. This hood serves as a spare or replacement for the one provided with your NIKKOR 18-300mm.

Nikon HB-58 reviews

HB-58 Bayonet Lens Hood for AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Standard Nikon Lens Hood This was my third replacement for the original lens hood. It has a tendency to come off if bumped However, you should never be without one. So I buy replacements. A lot of folks do not put lens hoods on correctly. This hood only goes on one way so you always have proper protection. It also reverses on the lens for storage. Besides popping off, the only other complaint is you can not use this hood if using the pop-up flash. It casts a shadow. You have to use hot shoe flash or off camera flash. I just go without it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spent I recently dropped my camera... After nearly having a heart attack, after picking the camera i learned that the hood took my most of the hit, the hood has lost but my 18-300 was saved from any damage. Dont think it... Buy it!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't viginenet wide angle shots I lost my original Nikon shield on a hike when I slipped and fell on a steep slope , hitting the edge of the hood on the ground, causing it to loosen and fall off at some point latter I n the day. tried to save money by buying a couple of cheap shields which both caused vigenetting on my wide angle shots. This one doesn't even at 18mm.. I wm very pleased

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product The NIkon hood is great quality. I purchased an off brand, but it didn't last. This one is a tight fit and quality made.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would buy again Use this all the time. Added protection for the lens in addition to obvious prevention of flare.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lens and Camara savior This is my second unit bought I recently dropped my camera with a 1k Usd lens on it... I nearly died however after i picked it up i learned that the hood took most of the hit it broke but it saved my lens from any damage... This is money we'll spent, i cannot complain at all. Highly recomended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This hood is easy to lose This is the third hood I have bought for my Nikon 18-300 mm lens. It works great but doesn't lock into place very well. So it is easy to come loose when I am zooming in and out, and then fall off when I am not looking
