    Dracast LED160 Reviews

LED160 5600K Daylight On-Camera Light (Plastic, Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value! This light usually costs around $$(I think), but B&H currently has it for $*(when I bought it). It's only made of plastic and I would prefer something other than a shoe mount. One problem with the shoe mount is that it's kind of loose in the body. It clamps securely, as any shoe mount should, it's just wiggles a bit where it meets the housing of the light. However, none of that really detracts from the quality of the product. I'm not using this on my camera, but rather on a stand. I don't think the minor wiggling would effect it even if it was mounted on the top of my camera. The dimmer switch is great, and it's also nice that it has a battery level check too. The light is fantastic and I think, at $80 or less, this is a really good deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best value on the market I love my LED 160 it goes everywhere with me and produces Great Light. The Dracast LED160 gives you more light than other similar lights on the market and the battery can last more than 3 hrs. The CRI is 95 on my light. It is really a great deal and I highly recommend it to all the location photographers and videographers out there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Light I use the light mainly for film/video productions. The LED160 provides high quality light with no noticeable added coloration such as green or magenta as well as no visible color shift over time. The light is evenly distributed and dimmable. It seems to have very high output for its size. In addition, I like that it has standard shoe mounts on the top and sides to easily add additional camera accessories such as mics. Its also great that is takes commonly found and reasonably priced Sony batteries and includes a battery meter. Overall a fantastic light for any one looking for a good quality light. I would like to have seen the option to magnetically attach CTO, diffusion, mini barn doors, and/or a screen protector. Overall it fit all my main needs which was to have a high quality, high output, evenly distributed, and dimmable light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Little Lights! I shoot video instruction courses for my wife's company's website (---------). After white-balancing problems with cheaper lighting, I sprung for Dracast LEDs and am very satisfied. I started with three 160s which were adequate for most talent lighting, but quickly added two 500s (all daylight 5600K) to deliver true white backgrounds. Since I bought the lights separated by several months, I was concerned that the light color might vary slightly, but that was not the case. The lights are all within 50 degrees Kelvin of each other so I can mix and match the 160s and 500s as needed. Colors are very true!! Infinite adjustment with dimming on both 160s and 500s. LED160s are very light (tho not fragile) so you can stack two on your hot shoe for impromptu use with stills or handheld video work. I mostly use them on stands. Excellent product and value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good light Works great. Dimmer works great, no flicker. Opening for their diffusion card too small...and thus not compatible...didn't see that coming as all my Dracast equipment has always been excellent. Rated poor design because of incompatible size of diffusion slot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great potential ruined by cheap and unreliable construction First, this review is for the plastic version. Some of the reviews here seem to be actually for the aluminum one.? What you need to know: This is almost a spot light with a 30 degrees light. The aluminum version has a wider flood beam at 45 degrees of through.? The goods:? It's light. The light quality seems pretty good. I would rate it a bit cooler than 5600 maybe close to 6000 but that's to my eyes.? I bought this because I wanted a compact light with a narrower beam.? Because the beam is narrow it actually has a longer reach than a light with a more flood focal LED. So it makes it ideal to put a gel in there and use it as a hair light, kick light, etc.? There is a slit to put gels in there. The plastic version does not come with any gels, but you can easily cut gels to size an slide it in there.? The bad: I returned the light upon receiving it.? The battery holder was poorly molded and the battery would not sit tightly in there. I tried it with two different Sony NPF type batteries that worked fine on other LEDs. Both of them I had to press the battery tightly to make enough contact for the light to turn on. The moment I stopped pressing on the batter or I slightly moved the light, it would lose contact.? I didn't order a replacement, as much I liked the idea of this light. But, even if the battery fit was okay, the plastic molding that holds the battery does not seem well constructed and I'm guessing it would eventually become loose after a week of usage. If it had a DC input (like the aluminum version), I could have possible lived with that, but since battery connection is the only power source, the moment it wears off you have a piece of junk on your hands.? Lastly, the light is unnecessarily thick. I feel like with better engineering, they could have cut the width by 1/3 or a 1/2. So it feels like an empty plastic shell.? I would have paid 30-40% more for the exact light but with more robust construction and ability to add barn doors.? Great light quality cheap and unreliable construction So don't be tempted by the discount price. There is a reason for it. The quality of manufacturing is inline with the price it's being sold.

    question

What is In The Box for Dracast 160 plastic? Ball Head? Filter?
    Asked by: Kevin
This is an older light, but I believe it only comes with a soft carry bag, and a minimalist hot-shoe mount (which technically is only a cold-shoe mount). // Also, if there are any other technical or product related questions, feel free to contact us directly at any time at support@dracobroadcast.com.
