  • 1Description

The Echo 15+ Thunderbolt 2 with DVD+RW drive from Sonnet enables you to connect any computer with a Thunderbolt port to your peripherals through an optional Thunderbolt cable. Simply plug in your printer, keyboard, mouse, cable modem, cell phone, headphones, speakers, microphone, and other devices to the Echo dock with your cables and connect your computer to the dock with the Thunderbolt cable. When it's time to disconnect your computer, just unplug the Thunderbolt cable.

The dock gives you plenty of interfaces to choose from including USB 3.0, SATA and eSATA, FireWire 800, Gigabit Ethernet, 3.5 mm audio input, 3.5 mm audio output, and Thunderbolt. For your convenience, USB 3.0, audio input, and audio output ports are placed on both the front and back of the enclosure so you can leave frequently used devices connected to the back and devices you may need to disconnect more often to the front.

The Echo 15 Thunderbolt Dock includes an 8x DVD±RW drive to load software, import CDs, burn CDs and DVD-ROMs, and play DVDs. You can also install your old hard drive or SSD right in the dock. Sonnet designed the Echo 15 Thunderbolt with a DVD drive as well as extra space, mounting hardware, and connectors for you to install a 2.5" or 3.5" SATA HDD (hard disk drive) or SSD (solid state drive).

It connects your peripherals to the Echo dock; connect your computer and disconnect it from the dock using one Thunderbolt cable
It provides multiple interfaces like Thunderbolt, USB 3.0, SATA, eSATA, FireWire 800, and Gigabit Ethernet
It supports Internal Hard Drive or SSD Installation so you can install a 2.5" or 3.5" 6 Gb/s SATA drive inside the dock
Front and rear USB 3.0 and audio ports along with the ability to be placed horizontally or vertically provides flexibility when in use
Its wide range of display connection options allows you to select from a variety of inexpensive Mini Display Port to popular display interfaces such as HDMI, DVI, VGA and Dual-Link DVI
It is compatible with Thunderbolt Macs that supports any Mac with a Thunderbolt port running OS X 10.8.2+

    Sonnet Echo 15 reviews

Echo 15+ Thunderbolt 2 with DVD+RW drive is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Jack of All Trades - Almost The Sonnet Echo 15+ is adds versatility and convenience to my 5k iMac in a single box. I've got new (T-bolt raids) and old (FW HDs, USB card readers) devices plugged in and at the ready. I installed my own 4TB HD (took 10 mins) to keep various production elements available and in an easily accessible location. What's missing? I would have loved for it to have a separate HDMI port. Others have noted the fan noise, but I don't find it particularly objectionable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid, but loud fan... This unit is fast, solidly built, and seems very reliable. My only complaint is that the fan is very noisy, and generally not needed unless you were to install a 3.5 hard drive in the unit. My solution was to install a switch on the back so that I can turn the fan on and off manually. A thermostatically controlled fan would have been much better, but they chose not to include that.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So far, Connected ok and put my own HD in. That's fine, until tried my RocketStor 5322 dual esata bare drive external. Did not work and crashed the computer again and again. That was the main reason for choosing it. :(
