The Xcellon HDD-01 SATA Hard Drive Dock makes it simple to access data on an internal SATA drive. The HDD-01's tray-less, top-loading drive dock enables easy access with simple, tool-free installation-instead of dismantling your computer and installing the drive, you simply insert the drive directly into the dock.

The HDD-01 is equipped with eSATA, FireWire 400, two FireWire 800 ports, and a USB 3.0 port, plus all necessary interface cables. With compatible devices, the dual FireWire 800 ports allow daisy-chaining, and the USB 3.0 port can attain maximum transfer rates of up to 5.0 Gbps. The dock also supports hot-swapping of disk drives.

Note: Firewire daisy chaining capability is not supported.
Firewire not supported when used with Mac OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)

Accommodates One 2.5" or 3.5" SATA I/II/III Drive
The Xcellon hard drive dock accommodates a single 2.5" laptop-sized or 3.5" desktop-sized SATA I/II/III disk drive. It's great for backing up or archiving large quantities of data to solid-state or hard disk drives, whether you're a video editor or a data systems manager.
Tray-Less, Top-Loading Drive Dock
Installing your disk drive is easy. Instead of dismantling your computer, just pop a disk into the easily accessible, top-loading drive dock. The dock is tray-less, eliminating the need for a drive carrier, screwdriver, or other installation tools. It's the most convenient way to access data on an internal SATA drive.
USB 3.0, eSATA, FireWire 800, and FireWire 400 ports
The HDD-01 is equipped with five ports for flexible connectivity. USB 3.0, eSATA, FireWire 400, and two FireWire 800 ports, plus the included high-speed connection cables, make it easy to connect the HDD-01 to most computers. The dual FireWire 800 ports also enable daisy-chaining with compatible devices.
Maximum Transfer Rates of up to 5.0 Gbps
When plugged into your computer's USB 3.0 port, the HDD-01 can attain transfer rates of up to 5.0 Gbps via the included USB 3.0 cable.

HDD-01 SATA Hard Drive Dock is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Alternative to Voyager Quad I read a lot of reviews of the Newer Technology Voyager Quad on the net and it sounded very unstable. There is not a lot of quad sata adapters out there. So I thought I'd try Xcellon's and so far I am quite happy with it. It is stylish and sleek. I think that if you take care of your equipment, it should't burn out like what I read about the Voyager on @ etc. The Xcellon adapter comes with instructions and as long as you mount, power, connect things in order (and reverse) and also be gentle about not forcing the drives etc...I think everything should be fine. I'm very happy with this purchase...so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Product is Fine I bought the dock to make use of a hard drive I took out of my windows XP (circa 2002) desktop unit went into meltdown. I hoped that the dock would enable me to plug the drive into my laptop so that I could review whatever files were available. But it was not to be: the hard drive was what seemed to have gone into a non-recoverable state. I am glad that I bought the dock because it assured me that I was not passing up a chance to rejuvenate and reuse the hard drive. I did not, if you are curious to know, lose any files because I had everything backed up in other external drives. The dock is a reasonably priced way for me to assure myself that retiring the hard drive is a good decision.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Versatile Add-on To Any System I purchased this to be able to access bare drives without having to install them in permanent enclosures for maintenance purposes. The best thing about it is that it supports multiple interfaces and is platform-agnostic. The worst thing about it, and this is a minor issue, is that the provided cables are a bit bulky, especially the eSATA cable. I've owned similar devices in the past, and they came with thinner, more flexible cabling (hence, the subtraction of 1 star). I've found this device to work flawlessly on Mac, Windows, and Linux machines. I also connected it to the eSATA port on Synology NAS expansion units like the DX213 and DX513, and it works on those devices as well. Other than the provided cabling, I have no complaints with it whatsoever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, impressed Simple to download, simple to use, I'm very impressed that it comes with three different cords for your choosing to connect to your computer. In an age where things come with no cords, its refreshing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great I have been using my Xcellon dock for video editing. So far, so good. It boots up the hard drives very fast and works like a champ. I had two others from a competitor and they both stopped reading disks shortly after their warranty ran out. So, after some searching, I thought I'd give this one a shot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I wait so long to buy this Hard Drive Dock??? Out of the packing, plug in the power supply, drop an old hard drive into it, connect to a USB socket and it worked the first time. Then it worked with every hard drive I tried. From smallish, 200 GB up to one TB. They all worked! Really handy to have for testing the drive contents.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Trouble with two I'm rating at 3 stars because of a few things: tiny start up button that is as black as the case and right next to the power cord which means, as one person noted, you can bump the cord and inadvertently shut the device down. Start up button on the back - still not sure why manufacturers expect us to be able to reach the button when it is on the back. And finally, I titled my review Trouble with two because it seems when I turn on my second (exact same device) it kicks the first device off - disconnects from the computer. This could be a safety feature, I don't know. I have a daisy chain using FireWire 800 with two RAIDS and 4 of these toasters as I call them (2 Xcellon and 2 Newer Tech). In any combination, even with the 2nd Xcellon on FireWire 400 port, as soon as I turn it on, it kicks the other off. You have been warned.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product but limited speed. This hard drive dock is well built, easy to connect and performs as advertised. Unfortunately it only has a USB 2.0 connection. As a result large data transfers can be slow. I have now purchased another dock that has USB 3.0, FireWire 400 & 800 and SATA connections. It is a good product if you want to back-up files and data and speed isn't a concern.
