General Brand ABMAXO overview

  • 1Description

This adapter allows an Olympus SLR lens to be mounted on a Minolta Maxxum SLR body.

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or any other functions are not retained using this adapter. In this case you will need to meter in "stop-down mode" since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body.

General Brand ABMAXO reviews

Maxxum Body to Olympus Lens Adapter is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Maxxum Body to Olympus Lens Adapter Not suitable for wide angle lenses, will not fit not enough lens clearance. Only worked with 50mm and 100mm lens reasonably sharp, but did not try infinity focus. Tried 135mm, 200mm, 400mm lens, vignetting so bad that 50% of the image will be lost. Range of lenses are very limited. Item was purchased to help decide whether this product would allow older lenses work with Sony DSLR. ...This product will not be used except for dust collector and paper weight. ...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Adaptor works, but infinity is soft The adaptor works OK, and produces sharp images, but I have noticed that at over a distance the image begins to soften some. The lens I have is quite old, and might be the problem, but I am not terribly convinced. Works well otherwise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Olympus To A Mount Test was done using Sony A900 body and Olympus Lenses. The adaptor does attach to Sony/Minolta A mount bodies. Some Olympus Lenses fit to the adaptor, but the range is limited. Tested with Olympus 400mm lens, does connect but vignetting is so bad that 50% or more of image will be lost when cropping. Olympus 100mm lens connects with less vignetting about 10-15% image loss. 35-70mm 35-105mm ok, fairly sharp no vignetting. Wide angle lenses will NOT connect as lens goes too deep into the adaptor and hits the adaptor internal glass and will not attach. 100mm & 50mm Macro lens did not attach.Lenses will not lock correctly, and rotating the adaptor feels quite metalic and not very smooth. When connecting adaptor to lenses and body, after locking lens to adaptor, lens can be rotated beyond and before the locking position while locked and the adaptor does the same on the body.If you are looking to use your old MF Olympus Lenses on a new Sony DSLR camera body by using this adaptor, you will have limited success, but will lead to disappointment.Did not test focus to infinity....
