  • CamRanger Wireless Transmitter for Select Canon and Nikon DSLR Cameras

The Wireless Transmitter for Select Canon and Nikon DSLR Cameras from CamRanger allows you to wirelessly control your digital SLR and view and share images via your mobile device. Remotely access advanced features, functions and settings, such as live view, intervalometer, bulb mode for shutter, and HDR bracketing, in addition to photo capture, movie recording, shutter speed, aperture, white balance, ISO, metering mode, drive/shooting mode, image format, focus mode (Nikon only), focus stacking, auto exposure mode (Nikon only), exposure compensation, bracketing, and software autofocus toggle.

The CamRanger creates an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network to which an iOS or Android device or a Mac or Windows computer can connect. The free CamRanger iOS app then enables camera control without the need for a computer or existing Internet connection. The effective wireless range is 150'. The device is compatible with iOS 4.3 or later.

The provided USB cable charges the included rechargeable, replaceable lithium-ion battery and can also be used to power the device. Also supplied is an Ethernet cable for firmware upgrades. A protective case is included for storage and secure connection to a tripod, belt loop, or other attachment point.

The CamRanger requires the use of a separately available camera-specific USB cable for connection to select DSLRs. For a full list of compatible DSLRs, see the following:
    Canon Camera Compatibility Chart
    Nikon Camera Compatibility Chart

    Live View
Stream live view images from the camera to your iPhone/ iPad/ iPod Touch (iOS 4.3 or later), Android device (Android 3.2 or later) or Mac OS 10.7/10.8 or Windows 7/8 computer. Double-tap screen to increase magnification. With the touch focus feature, you can tap once to focus on an area or make incremental focus adjustments. Additionally, perform focus stacking. Approximate frame rate is 8-18 fps, depending upon camera
    CamRanger App
    • Share images wirelessly from within the CamRanger app on an iPad, iPhone or Android device to social media including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or flickr, as well as the option to wirelessly transfer to Dropbox and FTP servers.
    • Images can also be emailed, sent as a text message, or printed wirelessly with compatible printers from within the app.
    • Once the app is updated and the settings are configured, images can easily be shared with the press of a button.
    • For commercial, group or portrait shots, the photographer can specify the folder to save images to within Dropbox and the FTP server.
    • Selectively print images wirelessly during events or weddings.
    • These features can be accessed while using other CamRanger features, including sharing to multiple devices and auto-saving to either the iOS photo library, an FTP server, or Dropbox.
    Take and View Pictures
Wirelessly capture images in multiple drive modes. Thumbnails automatically appear on the top of your device's screen after you capture a photo. Tap a thumbnail to view the image and its histogram and associated meta-data. Images are saved to your camera's memory card and can also be transferred to your iOS device
    View Full Resolution
Double-tap an image to view it in full resolution. CamRanger supports full-screen mode to maximize image size. Toggle among a variety of overlays, including AF points, highlight, shadow, grid lines, and aspect ratio
    Movie Recording
Start and stop video capture and view it while you record. Perform focus adjustments and touch focusing
    Intervalometer and Bulb
Configure the CamRanger as an intervalometer to take time-lapse pictures. Bulb mode is supported for specific shutter speeds. There's no need for the iOS device to remain connected after the initial setup
Wirelessly View and Set Camera Properties
Control shutter speed, aperture, ISO, metering mode, metering mode, drive/shooting mode, image format, focus mode (Nikon only), auto exposure mode (Nikon only), exposure compensation and bracketing, and software autofocus toggle for switching between AF and MF.
    HDR / Advanced Bracketing
Configure the CamRanger to capture a series of photos, automatically varying shutter speed, aperture or ISO. Images can then be combined via third-party post-processing software into a single exposure with greater dynamic range
    View Memory Card Contents
See thumbnails of the images stored on your camera's memory card. Select photos to be permanently deleted or download them and save them in the iOS photo library
    Macro Photography and Focus Stacking
Great for macro work, when the extremely short focusing distance can increase the effects of camera shake; eliminate blur in your close-ups by remotely triggering the camera's shutter, rather than pressing the shutter button. Also makes it easier to physically shoot in the awkward locations in which you commonly find yourself during macro shooting. Additionally, you can perform focus stacking to enhance depth of field (post-processing required). Focus stacking is bracketed focusing similar to HDR but designed for focal planes
    Studio Photography / Client Mode
Switch to client mode to disable camera control on the iOS device. Shoot while holding the camera and simultaneously view images on your iOS device. This allows clients, directors and associates to quickly view the wirelessly-transferred shots after they're captured. The CamRanger application also includes optional watermarks for viewing or saving on the image. Additionally, there is a rating system and comparison feature for the clients during the photo shoot. When working on a Mac or Windows computer, you can instantly import and view images in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom as you shoot them
    Compatibility with X-Rite's Color Calibrator
The CamRanger iOS app is compatible with X-Rite's ColorTRUE, a color calibration tool used to accurately correct color. The CamRanger app can seamlessly access the ColorTRUE profile within the app, allowing you to view images with accuracy. If you like, you can select from a number of predefined environments, such as Outdoors and Office, to display images based on ambient light with greater accuracy. Easily toggle the ColorTRUE calibration on or off for each image from within the app. X-Rite devices supported with the iOS version of ColorTRUE include ColorMunki Smile, ColorMunki Display, i1Pro 2, and i1Display Pro
    Multi Camera Tethering
Available via a free update, the CamRanger enables multi camera tethering where multiple cameras (each with a CamRanger) can all wireless tether to one computer (Mac or Windows) simultaneously

CamRanger Wireless Transmitter Kit with Extra Battery for Select Canon and Nikon DSLRs is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful product !!! This was easy to set up right out of the box! I think the directions need to be worded better {some is a bit confusing } but I did manage to get it going regardless. My only real complaint is I purchased mine with the extra battery. However, there is no battery charger. You charge the battery by plugging in the entire cam ranger unit to a wall outlet. This isn't real handy when you are on a long shoot and you swap out the battery with the fresh one.and can't charge the dead one because you are shooting with the cam ranger. This should be looked into.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Functional for sharing to a single device Setup is fairly simple and most people won't need to go beyond the setup guide included in the box and downloading the app on their tablet. Full documentation is rather limited and Windows software only half works. When using a single device as a controller/viewer, it's great, but I could not share on a tablet and PC at the same time or send the image from the tablet to the CamRanger software on the PC. Nothing in the full documentation covers sharing between multiple devices, so you either have to live with it or find a workaround such as Samsung's sharing app.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Be reasonable in your expectations. First I purchased the CamRanger Wireless transmitter kit. I wanted to see the quality of the product before spending more on the PT Hub and MP-360 Tripod head which are sold as an adjunct kit. I was slightly disappointed when I opened the CamRanger wireless transmitter. It did not appear to be a professional built product. However for the price, it works very well. It came with an extra battery, the charging AC-DC battery charger, and the correct cables. LIKE MOST PRODUCT MANUFACTURERS TODAY, THERE WAS A SMALL GETTING STARTED folded sheet. But to get what you paid for, go to theCamRanger, com web site and download the appropriate PDF file for your camera be in Canon or Nikon. The PDF file provides detailed instructions on how to set-up, and use the CamRanger. I printed the PDF file for future reference. The transmitter comes with a zipper pouch with a key-ring for taking the stress on the cable between the transmitter and the canera. I like the concept, and of course when outdoors in purports to protect the device from weather. The problem is, with the cables attached one cannot zipper the case because there is no pathway for the cable to exit the pouch . A oversight that is quite disappointing. In summary: this is an excellent value for the price and it works great with the Apple iPhone 6. I was satisfied to the point where I went ahead and purchased the CamRanger PT hub and MP-360 tripod head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CamRanger is easy to use for WiFi to iPad, iPhone or Laptop. I use the CamRanger connected to my Canon 5D MIII connected to my iPad Air. The software was easy to install. I set my camera to RAW and Large jpg because the CamRanger transfers jpg files to the iPad Air in about 1.5-2 seconds. I can tap the image in the iPad Air so clients can see the shot so adjustments can be made quickly. The iPad is a better display for clients than showing them the back of your camera.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointing for pro use with Canon 5ds but fun toy My one-star rating is unusual for me but the CamRanger is not ready for prime time. It has some great features but I would never count on it. I shoot landscapes in the field and models. I must have something that is foolproof and works with my shooting flow. CamRanger is not intuitive and the interface to my camera makes it impossible to hold and shoot. The iPad interface is difficult to quickly use and the transfer is very slow, even with small files. The construction is shoddy: the documentation even says the that Cat6 connector may not work unless it is wiggled. The plastic case is flimsy and the battery is hard to remove. There is a switch on the side that the INSTRUCTIONS say does not do anything. You don't know which switch turns in on if you are shooting. Canon, Nikon, and Apple design well-designed and intuitive. This product falls way short of their standards. Now, if you are looking for a toy, or something that will add missing functionality to your camera for time-lapse shooting or shooting wildlife remotely, this device will be fun but I would never count on it. To wrap up: The CamRanger feels like a beta test product. I can see it being designed into something really useful and it has some fun features but if you are using it to shoot in a pro environment where seconds count, it is not ready.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent I was shooting stills for a skin care company and purchased the CamRanger especially for that job (since I'm usually a cameraman not a still photographer). But this little device helped me appear very professional. Images were sent instantly to my 27" iMac, and the producer could open them up, and zoom in to see very pore on one's skin. The app displayed essential camera settings, and overall worked flawlessly. I took one star off since once in a while the connection was lost or spotty, and I had to re-boot the CamRanger to make it work again... but overall I was very pleased!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great help for my photography I am a professional photographer and my clients love seeing the images instantly. I looked at CamRanger's website for video tutorials to set up going to the iPad and computer at the same time, as this is helpful in the studio. The CamRanger support team is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product for Wireless Tethered Photography I chose the CamRanger in order to explore focus stacking and HDR. I also had in mind to use it for wildlife shots so I could take pictures without frightening the critters with my noisy presence. It has worked wonderfully well in all those endeavors.
