How is does this lens perform in video mode? Looking for a budget option to the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 because I don't have a mirrorless camera.
Asked by: Ruben
I have never used this lens for video; however, I am very impressed with some of my night photography of the Milky Way with this lens attached to my Canon EOS 7D Mark II. I generally don't use it for day time photography, due to the inconvenience of manual focusing only, but the pics I have taken are of exceptional quality, especially landscapes. I am very happy to have purchased this lens for my Canon.

how does this compare How does this compare to the Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 for astrophotography?
Asked by: james
I can't compare the two as only I have the 16mm lens. The 16mm does an adequate job with astrophotography. I've captured the milky way, meteor showers, constellations and star trails. One aspect I notice is that brighter objects in the night sky, planet and major stars for example, tend to exhibit a starburst pattern on the image. I don't know why that's happening, whether it's inherent in the lens design or something I'm not setting up correctly in my camera settings. I'm not crazy about the effect, but it's there none the less. Thus, I have some research to do. Overall, I'm satisfied with my lens.

question

Does this lens have a focus-assist chip that works with a Nikon D7100?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, it has the chip and electronic contacts to needed to work with the D3XXX, the D5XXX, and the D7500 cameras. The instruction manual for the Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 states: "Your Nikon mount has electronic contacts that allow it to communicate with Nikon AF cameras. These contacts enable the A, S, and P modes of the camera. When a subject is correctly in focus, the camera emits a beep or an indicator light comes on."
