The UltraPlate Quick Release Plate for DSLR & Compact System Camera from Joby uses the universal Arca-Swiss style dovetail so you can easily mount accessories to your camera. The Ultra Plate is made from lightweight durable anodized aluminum and attaches to your camera's 1/4"-20 tripod socket. The plate features a mounting screw that can be shifted based on the gear you are attaching and can be secured in place using the supplied Allen wrench.

Compatible with Most Tripods and Ballheads
The UltraPlate uses the universal Arca-Swiss style dovetail. You can also attach any tripod quick release plate to one of the extra mounting holes

Will this work with the Cotton Carrier camera hub allowing for a slop for the tripod connection?

Is this plate compatible with the 500PLONG plate? If not, can the 500PLONG be screwed to the bottom of this Joby Ultraplate like the video reviews show?

This plate is Arca compatible, but since it has a 1/4 thread at the bottom, it can accept a plate or sling strap which uses a 1/4 male thread.

The Joby plate has the Swiss-Arca dimensions that will fit any head with Swiss-Arca dimensions which seem to be the universal design choice.

I was wondering how does this hook to my camera and how does the joby pro sling camera strap allow me to mount my camera to my tripod. I think that I have this backwards so if somebody could help me out. I greatly appreciate it. For I don't want to have to remove the camera strap whenever I want to mount my camera on my tripod. Thank You!

I use the plate with a Black Rapid Sport strap. As noted by others there are two threaded sockets for 1/4 accessories on the plate. I put the Black Rapid retaining eyebolt into one of them, and there is still room to slide the plate into the Arca attachment slots of my tripod.I believe the strap you want to use could also fit into one of the 1/4X20 threaded holes.

Can this be used to shift the center of gravity a little between a tripod head (no particular brand) and the camera/camcorder?

Yes, this is exactly what I use it for when I place it on my stabilizer. The lens is pretty heavy leaning the camera forward, but since the plate it a bit longer than usual arca plates, I can shift the camera back about 1-2 inches to balance it properly. It's an arca type plate, just FYI.

Will this fit on the Sony a7ii without blocking the battery cover? Thanks .

I have it on a Nikon 5300 and it fits fine, it can slide to either side to make spaxe for the battery cover, but I am not familiar with Sony cameras, so I couldn't tell you 100%

Will this work with the Olympus om-d 5ii? Will it interfere with the articulating screen or battery compartment? Thanks for any help you can give.

It work fine with the screen but would have to be removed to get to the battery. I don't have that issue as I use the OLY bottom handle that has a quick release on it.
