This OEM battery has proved reliable over the years, which is why I give it 4 stars. I have not had one swell up or get stuck in the camera. But the batteries I just received (June 2022) were made in June 2019. Did Olympus stop making them in that month? That's disappointing for people who have older Olympus cameras that require this battery.

Nothing like a factory battery. Camera reads it correctly. Don't need to worry about bad batteries expanding or leaking. It costs more, but, imho, it's worth it.

I have 2 Oly bodies, a P5 and an M5x2, and previously an M5, with 8 batts for camping trips away from chargers. My Oly BLN-1s have carried a good charge. I mark my batts as to when I put them into service. Only now the 2 I purchased with the P5, in 2012, have swollen enough I won't put them into the camera. I have no experience with an off-brand competing with Oly, but very satisfied with my experience with Oly batts and chargers.

how long does the charge last in battery when not in use
The duration of charge in storage will depend on numerous factors, including temperature, length of time the battery is not in use, and so forth. If you go a period of time without shooting - say a month or two, its best to check the battery before an important event to make sure you have enough charge on it.
