Outstanding strap - great value
I have always used Domke gripper straps on all my cameras but wanted something a little nicer for my M240. I looked hard at the Leicatime leather straps, but in the end chose this leather strap made by Leica. Of course, Luigi's hand made leather straps are more luxurious, but Leica's strap #18776 is the best balance between price, quality, durability, function and reliability that I have been able to find with regard to leather camera straps. I am extremely pleased with this strap and would highly recommend it. Get one for your Leica M camera, whether it's a film M or digital. You just can't go wrong with this strap.

Leica strap
Using on an M6. It fits. Made of very supple and narrow leather, and is stiched on the edges for strength. Folds up better than you would expect to put into a bag. I was expecting stiffer leather that would be difficult to fold into a bag. Functions as a neck or shoulder strap. Has two length adjustments on each side. At the mounting lug only the rough side of the leather contacts the side of the camera (very soft leather). Has a wider leather pad added for where it goes around your neck. Install takes about a half hour to get it just so.

Outstanding strap - great value

Quality and Functional
When I first got the strap the first thing I noticed was that the leather was soft and supple. I thought the thing would break if you pulled at it, but its really very strong. It has a Matt finish with a tiny hint of shine, and the edges is stitched white. The neck protector is a little ticker and stiffer but bends really well, and the strap is easy to fold into a bag The metal lugs are strong and stiff and easy to mount. There is an exposed bit of untreated leather that touches the camera - 1) to avoid staining and 2) because its softer and not abrasive when touching the camera (I use an M240 silver) Compared to other Leather straps, I think that its properly priced even if its got the Leica brand on it. Its thinner than other brands, but its so much softer and thinner but I feel just as confident with the strap around my shoulder. It has the ability to shorten the length, but I would have liked the ability to make the length shorter. Im 5'9 and at its shortest length, the camera sits on my belly, just above my belly button when standing. Id have liked it a little higher. At the longest length, it sits at my waist and close to my groin. Not exactly friendly for people of average height. I think it would be punishing for people who are shorter than me.

Quality Product
This is a quality product. These are made of a nice top grain leather. they connect easily enough, and there are leather guard at the connection to isolate the metal rings on the strap from the anodized surface of the camera, which should prevent any scratching. The price is a little high for what it is, but it is a good product. If quality is important to you, which it must be if you bought a Leica camera, than you should be satisfied with this strap.

Comfortable, well made, Leather Strap
I bought a couple of these and I'm using them on my Leica M240 and Canon 70D. Each of these cameras weighs about 1 3/4 pounds without a lens and more with lenses (up to four pounds with my M240 and Noctilux combo). In each case I've found the strap to remain comfortable and not digging into my neck. In fact, compared to the standard neck strap supplied with each of these cameras, this strap has to be the most comfortable of the bunch. The extra leather supplied as padding is in fact much more comfortable and padded than one would suppose from the picture or even once this strap is unpacked. Overall, I would highly recommend this strap for a light weight to medium weight camera and lens setup.

leather strap
Like all Leica products the craftsmanship is exceptional. My only real gripe is that it was a little difficult to thread the rings onto the camera bosses. Eventually I did manage to fit it all together though. But other than that this strap is great. If you're looking for a strap to match your M series rangefinder you can't go wrong here.

A Worthy Purchase
The basic nylon neck strap (#14312) that comes with the Leica M Typ 240 does no justice to the camera. The #18776 leather strap is more commensurate in character and qualitylight, thin, subtle black leather with elegant white stitching; adjustable in length with leather lug protectors so rings don't rub against the camera; and a comfortable neck pad with Leica logo. The leather strap is only 0.5mm narrower than the nylon strap. The strap fits splendidly with or without the Multifunctional Handgrip M and Finger Loop in place. It complements the M240 camera beautifully.
