Optoma Technology ML550 overview

  • 1Description

The portable Optoma ML550 3D Ready Mobile LED Projector delivers 500 lumens of brightness with a sharp 10,000:1 contrast ratio. It features WXGA 1280 x 800 widescreen resolution and can project up to a 100" diagonal 2D or 3D image. The ML550 is powered by a DMD DLP chip system and its LED light source features a long lifespan of 20,000+ hours. This means you'll save money because there are no traditional projector lamps to buy or replace. LEDs are also more energy efficient and they produce less heat.

This model also provides multiple connectivity options including HDMI and VGA via a 24-pin universal port. The ML550 supports PC-less presenting via USB, microSD or 1.5GB internal memory. These three options support a variety of file formats including PowerPoint, Excel and Word files/documents. The projector has a built-in 1W mono speaker as well. Other features include a low standby power consumption level that's less than 1W and a complete on-screen menu that supports adjustments in 16 different languages. This projector even affords wireless presenting, although the optional BI-EXTBGN adapter is required.

    Optoma Technology ML550 reviews

ML550 3D Ready Mobile LED Projector is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded my expectations I use it to test barcode readers by projecting simulated barcodes on a very small screen. Hence I chose this product because of it's ability to focus on very short distances. Besides I was amazed that it's 500 lumens are more then enough for projecting 80 wide movies. Optoma - can you include a battery in this great product?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost fabulous, but not out of the box It's not quite out of the box ready. In order to use it with an iPad or iPhone, we will need to purchase an additional Lightening-to-HDMI adaptor PLUS an HDMI cable. We just got the projector, hoping to use it for a presentation tomorrow morning. So far, we transferred the PowerPoint presentation to a USB flash drive and can use the Office Viewer function to view the slides. However, changing to the next slide requires THREE clicks of the down arrow on the remote, not just one click. We dug out an old HP laptop, but cannot get the resolution to work with the projector yet. It's a very small and very bright unit, which is what we wanted. IF we can get it all to work with our current technology (rather than the 5 year old laptop!), it will be great. The projector can display Photos, Movies or Video (in specific formats). Since we have not yet successfully attached it to a live device, we don't know how it will be at screen mirroring, which is usually what you want for a presentation.
