This is a proprietary 2.5" 256GB Server-Grade SSD from Convergent Design, made specifically for the Odyssey 7, 7Q, and 7Q+ monitors/recorders. It's designed to maintain the read/write speeds required by the Odyssey throughout its lifespan. It also features a power protection circuit that in the event of a power loss will close out the current file to prevent corruption of the file and remaining data.

This SSD uses a SATA III interface for offloading files to a computer. A SATA adapter is not included, but any off-the-shelf adapter or USB 3.0 SSD adapter will work.

Each Convergent Design Premium SSD is individually tested by Convergent Design for full compatibility with the Odysseys. Test results proved failures to be nearly non-existent. Prior to distribution, all units are burned in and checked for errors.

    256GB Premium SSD for Odyssey 7, 7Q, 7Q+ is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Of The Line I use these SSD's shooting multi-thousand dollar commercials all the way to hundred thousand dollar sponsored films. It handles everything I can throw at it. To me what's great is there are never any problems when I'm shooting high speed, or 4K raw. When using the 7Q, I can run as long as I want to when shooting high speed. No buffer time or 7 sec rec times that are limited when using internal cards. This SSD card was made to be a work horse with lasting capability. I'm sure I'll be using this card for the life of the recorder. I can't say much in the way of cons. I would recommend purchasing the terabyte flash version though. It's worth the money in the long of it. You'll eventually find yourself saying I wish I bought the bigger card. Trust me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, reliable product... I bought this from the manufacturer due the mission-critical nature of its use, and even though drives of similar (or identical) manufacturer/specs are available for considerably less, I feel this is a worthwhile investment for quality and reliability where professional use Is concerned. I've been using this drive in my 7Q+ for nearly a year now without any trouble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Still on the Boat with Odysseus The Odyssey is a trip. You buy it, and it doesn't work. You have to spend another 1k to use it, when you buy a key from Convergent. I've had it for a month and I still haven't used the Odyssey because all the power cords are on back order. Very frustrating. So it sits idle. But my first impression is vexing, no mounts on top or bottom? Just the sides?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from might need to update firmware Had to update firmware on Odyssey 7Q to get cards to work. Slight panic out of box, as it was assumed they would work, out of the box, and an error code showed up on screen instead. Once firmware was updated though...no problems. Depressing that a $ camera and some memory cards can make a $ Phantom high speed camera obsolete for our use.
