Tilta FF-T03 Overview

The Tilta FF-T03 15mm Follow Focus can be mounted on any 15mm rod system and allows you to make smooth focus adjustments. Fluid movement ensures smooth control, and two hard stops ensure precision adjustment.

Included with the follow focus are five flexible gears for your lens and 0.5, 0.6, and 08 MOD drive gears. And if you like to operate your system from a distance, a crank handle and 12” whip are both included.

Easy to use and smooth

It nice for solo as well with a Puller. The numbers are clear and easy to read and smooth. I was disappointed when I had to mount it on the right side of camera when I was making space for a matte box until I notice the lens gear could be mounted on both sides the unit. Then I was sold. Well worth the price. I use it with a Rokinon Xeen 135mm T2.2 and XEEN CF 24mm T1.5. Very easy to adjust on the 15mm rods for both lens. Once adjusted it solid and smooth, and can be mounted easily on both sides if needed.

Smooth and Precise Focusing for Mirrorless Video

On of the hard lessons in video is that auto focus is unreliable, and should only be used in emergencies. As a result, I am building out a rig with cage and rails for my Sony A7iii. The latest addition is the Tilta FF-T103 Follow Focus device. It is easy to install, with the included wrap-around lens gears and the snap-on 15 mm adapter. It's not necessary to remove other rail-mounted gear when mounting. In retrospect, the model with a tilting gear arm would be better, but the TT-103 works well with lenses up to 4.5 in diameter. The 1:1 action is very smooth and precise, with good damping and zero backlash.

This is my first follow focus system and I believe I made the right choice. I'd heard horror stories about how finicky different follow focus systems could be, but had no such issues with the Tilta. I use it mounted to rails on my C200 with Xeen Cinema Primes and it works smoothly every time. I also like that it comes with the lens straps so that I can use the same method with my still photography lenses when necessary.

Since there's no manual when I bought this. How do you adjust this to work on larger sized lens like an 82mm? The wheel just goes over 360* degrees making the hard stop useless. Any ideas?

Is it possible to unmount the FF from the 15mm ...

Is it possible to unmount the FF from the 15mm rod adaptor and mount it on a 19mm Tilta rod adaptor?

We do not recommend it because It is not designed to do that. This doesn't mean that it is impossible to mount the follow focus to a 19mm rod adaptor but you would likely lose the ability to easily slide left and right to accommodate different diameter lenses. Not to mention it would void the warranty in the event something happened to your follow focus as a result of this modification.
