Tilta BS-T03 overview

  • 1Description

Easily mount your camera onto a tripod via the Sony VCT-U14 Tripod Adapter using the Tilta 15mm Quick Release Baseplate. The V-lock system on the underside of the baseplate locks firmly onto the Sony VCT-U14, which can then be mounted onto a tripod’s wedge plate. Alternatively, the baseplate’s quick release mechanism allows you to easily detach it from the VCT-U14 and switch to a shoulder mount/handheld configuration.

You can make front and back adjustments thanks to the adjustable shoulder pad which is padded to give you comfort while carrying your camera on long shoots. In addition, since the shoulder pad is located at the center of the underside of the baseplate, it allows for optimum balancing for the safety of your camera system.

The baseplate comes with 8” rods to mount accessories like a follow focus or EVF. Additionally, the height-adjustable 15mm rods adapter allows you to adjust the height of the 15mm rods for appropriate placement of accessories.

15mm Quick Release Baseplate for Sony VCT-U14 Tripod Adapter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Unit, but missed opportunities I bought this rig for my 5D. I wanted a shoulder rig, as well as production rig. I bough the full kit, that this baseplate is a part of. Couple issues I've had with this baseplate. - the rig has tons of holes throughout, but none with threading, so I can't mount anything to the baseplate itself. The back shoulder plate is essentially held on by on screw. If you ad anything to the back such as counter weight, it doesn't seem fully secure. If you are buying this with the intention of using it as a shoulder rig. Don't. It's too heavy, too front weighted, Counted weighting makes me nervous because of the single screw holding everything together. If you need to go for a long time, your going to be in a ton of pain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The best I've owned I'd spent a long time looking for the right rig until I found this for my C300. It works perfectly - solid build, positioning the camera nicely over the shoulder and allowing for my battery pack to sit on rods behind with plenty of access to the back of the camera. And the fact it works with a proper v-lock plate is awesome. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that the nob for locking the camera onto the adapter has a knurled surface which is hard to tighten firmly, particularly with sweaty hands. Having said this though I haven't has any problems with it... but I have to be careful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid solution This base plate is extremely light and very strong. I am running it with my Sony FS700 rig and we barely notice its there. The adjustable shoulder pad was certainly a welcome surprise as me and my partner are both tall and being able to slide the rig forward was just awesome. It also came with a set of rods for the front, wish it included a shorter set for the back counterweight we wanted to run but we'll certainly be purchasing more tilta stuff in the future, rods included. You cannot lose purchasing this baseplate.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shoulder mount I recently purchased the Tilta for my Sony PMW F3 after using other other types of shoulder supports. I found this probably on par with the Vocas and other similar systems at about 1/3 the cost. It's very well constructed and seems to be designed to be a universal plate that can adapt to other cameras, therefore reducing the necessity to purchase a camera specific baseplate. I highly recommend someone needing a Vocas or similar shoulder baseplate to check this out and do additional research.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value For The Money I bought this to use with the new Sony FS7. Works like a charm.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nice unit, but stripped screw. This unit works for holding my C100 and 300K, but a set screw was stripped when I got it. I replaced it with another 1/4 20 and they are sending me a replacement. Still! There are many holes drilled in the unit to lighten the weight I assume. Why didn't they just tap them for accessories. They said if I put a helicoil in the predrilled hole it would cancel my warranty. I'm not impressed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from just what the doctor ordered it's the only rail system that i'm aware of that allows you to go from the classic sony quick release plate to a shoulder mounted dslr or cine style camera quickly. it's cheap, but with that comes the hassles of matching up your current rail gear with your camera's height, etc and your matte box. i am in the process of trying to find a taller focus pull now to complete my new rig.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Great. They have missed some rosettes and mounting holes on this unit. It is also a bit heavy and not 100% firm on the back. For a bulky design like this, it is missing a lot of features. Better to chose a slim, lightweight baseplate.
