An awesome piece of equipment good for posing, shooting, you name it, cover with a blanket for posing, stand on it or have others stand on it, my photography mentor the famous Rolando Gomez had it at a workshop he ran and I was impressed. buy it

These are very nice apple boxes. The quality of this batch is better than ones I purchased several years ago. The wood is good quality. The price is steep for what they are but that's par for the course nowadays.

I have always used Matthews grip equipment because of the quality of their products and their reputation as a company. This Apple box is no exception. I was surprised that it came unfinished, to the point of it feeling like it was just sanded! Not sure why there is no finish of any kind on it, unless the idea is for each user to finish it themselves as they see fit. And with due respect to other reviewers, I'm not sure why having the Matthews logo emblazoned on the side is such a problem.

Burnt in branding, really?

Why can we not have a apple box that is clean without branding burnt into the side of it. Forces you to paint over it or stain the box dark enough to hide it. Not a big deal, but if they want it for brand recognition what is the point if the customer is going to cover it up.

One of those items that you only need to buy once, these will last a lifetime.

Received a used box, but paid the price of new.

Ordered one of these new, and received a used box with shoe prints on the top of it. I've ordered all of my equipment from B&H since starting my photography business and recently it seems their customer service and quality control has really gone downhill. This is my third experience in one week of receiving a damaged product.

Great Product

Heavy weight and sturdy these boxes will last. My only complaint would be that some of the handles are a little ruff. Would be nice to have a metal insert to keep from getting slivers.

What will be the basic set to go for? A full, a 1/2 and a Mini full?
Asked by: E.Christian
A full set is considered one of each size, 1-Full, 1-Half, 1-Quarter, 1-Eighth. People really purchase apple boxes for there particular needs, there really is not a standard. If you are using them on a set or while shooting at a location its always good to have four of each top raise up furniture, one for each corner/leg. If you are a stills photographer 2-Fulls and 2-Half Apples are great to raise up your subject. Really depends on your needs.

question

Can it be used on its side, so that it is 12 high and 8 wide? In that orientation, it is the perfect size for a heavy-ish darkroom slot processor I need to keep off the floor with 12 of room to empty chems back into bottles.
Asked by: Anonymous
It's pretty sturdy. I'm not sure it's a great choice though as on end it may not have a large enough base to defend against someone running into it. It's solid and can hold some weight though.

This is a six-sided Apple Box. No openings other than the handle ports on both ends.
