The Polaroid 77mm IR720 Infrared Filter is used for infrared photography with digital cameras and specialized infrared film. This nearly opaque filter blocks all visible light up to 720nm, enabling recording of subject matter and scenes that are not visible under normal conditions. Due to the nature of infrared photography, the filter factor for this filter is highly variable and depends largely on the ISO sensitivity in use and lighting conditions. Additionally, it is recommended that auto-exposure and autofocus functions are disabled during use for greater control over the results.

This filter is constructed from optical glass and features an aluminum filter ring to provide increased rigidity and as well as resistance against expansion or contraction due to temperature variances.

Used for infrared photography applications with digital cameras and specialized IR film.
Blocks all visible light up to 720nm for photographing subjects and details that are not normally visible.
Variable filter factor depending on ISO sensitivity and lighting conditions.

    77mm IR720 Infrared Filter is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Low cost IR filter for Infrared Film I use this with a non-modified IR Nikon D3200 and the results are not true Infrared. Most likely the result of the Camera's sensor, and the ability of the filter. With the filter on the D3200, the exposure can be hand held: ISO 100, f/4.5, 1/30sec. in bright daylight. I've done the DNG profile edit, and spent many hours trying to get decent IR results with various levels of exposure and color switching. I've tried various lenses from the 18-55mm kit lens, Tamron, Sigma, and Nikon 35 1.8G. And still not able to get defined IR results with this camera filter combination. I give this 4 star for the value. From what I've seen on the internet, older digital cameras, IR converted cameras, and film cameras get decent results with this filter. As for the construction, it is thin with few threads to mount. Glass is solid and easy to wipe down. Easy to mount. Below are some images taken hand held with this filter and the D3200.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money. I bought 3 filters, 77mm, 62mm, and 52mm. All of them have different densities, the 52mm is the darkest, followed by the 62mm, and then the 77mm being the lightest density. I can easily see the differences in the transmission of light through the three. They got thrown in my scrap drawer to use for projects other than photography. A Hoya will be my next purchase.
